Hi Yiannis!
Thank you or sharing this article. I find it fascinating and delighted with its reading. Totaly agree with the author, though not a watch collector myself, I find fascination for old time watches. I´ve just discovered an old Oyster Rolex myself, some time ago, and couldn´t resist buying it. It was made in 1945, and has a manual machine, but I find it so lovely with its old style "alpha" hands, and "dart" markers. I own several Rolex bought brand new, and it is my first "vintage". I´m delighted with it! Thank you again for sharing your reading, and receive my kind regards, from Argentina. Abel |

I guess it would be great if you can show us a picture of your own vintage Rolex. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do with mine. Muchas Gracias y un cordial saludo! Very cordially, Abel |

I also enjoy vintage watches. Here's my oldest wrist watch, a 1917 Russian Moser. The movement has been serviced but I chose to leave the dial and case original.

Ohh Yiannis!! Yours is very similar to my piece, but in gold!! Gorgeous!! I understand why you love it. Hope you enjoy it so much for a long time and in good health!
How nice are those little old Rolexes! They have special charm, isn´t it? Thanks for showing!! Alcan: Great little watch! I got one very, very similar. Almost a copy of yours. I´ll take a picture and show it. Mine is of Swiss origin, but with no brand on it. It works perfectly, and seems to be a military watch for the First WW. Keep enjoying it! Thanks for showing. Best regards, Abel |

Hi Yiannis!!
It looked like gold to me. Anyway, a gorgeous watch indeed! See this way: if yours is also steel, it could easily be a "cousin" of mine! Very nice! By the way, the steel band of mine, is of the riveted Oyster type in use in those years. But, I feel this is not the original one, as the covered ends between the lugs appeared in the early fifties. The original Oyster steel band used in the 1940´s didn´t have those close ends. Some previous owner has changed it, or may be my watch originally came with a leather band like yours and later its owner upgraded with an steel one for it. I feel that the riveted Oyster bands used by Rolex in the past were really gorgeous, and have a vintage look that I really love. I got a gold Date Rolex bought brand new in 1982, with this type of band. Lovely! Enjoy your watch! To Alcan: I have just taken a picture of my watch some minutes ago. It´s 9:10 PM here in Argentina now! It is shown with my beloved Explorer, just to show its relative size, and also... because it is a Rolex Forum!! Best cordial regards, Abel |
