Gorgeous Grand Seiko...

Does it look familiar or somewhat inspired by something else?

BTW, you can order this from a gray dealer in Japan for about US$2500.

WOW!! In all fairness, that does look very beautiful and so similar to something I've seen recently.... ...something that looks like this!!

But is it worth the price??

Well JJ, for US$2000 less than what an ExpII costs... I'd say 100% YES!

Don't know JJ, my guess is Seiko doesn't send their watches for COSC rating. But I'd also guess their GS movements can probably keep up with, if not beat Rolex movements in terms of both quality and accuracy.

Each Seiko grand is tested to a higher standard than the swiss COSC.Each watch must pass a very stingent test
to be -3 to +5 secs over 24 hours. But most are down
to + - 1 or 2 secs daily a fine movement.

The BIG question is: Would you trade off your Expy and downgrade to that?

Me? Not in a million years!!

I don't think I'd ditch my ExpII for this GS... but if I didn't have the ExpII, the GS offers a watch of equal quality, accuracy and robustness at a much better price-point. Therefore, I'd go for it, if I didn't have the ExpII.

Thanks mate. I just think there are so many other brands out there offering as good or better watches than the 'all mighty' Rolex.

You watch... Seiko will take on the 'western' market with mechanical watches and give the Swiss a good shake-up, like they did with the quartz invasion.

They are certainly making a run at it with a quality product.

Why not just buy one straight from a dealer? Like I said, US$2500 from a reasonably well known dealer in Japan.

Thanks Daren.

I'm high on life, my friend. But once you've been around watches long enough, you'll realize Rolex is the most recognized brand and the do make a tough mofo watch.... but there's plenty others that produce as good or better watches for a whole lot less (and a whooooole lot more, too).

I think it's a beautiful watch and would consider it if I was in the market for a GMT.

At last we have members who see with there eyes and not whats
written on the dial.Rolex make very fine watches, and they are my
favourite brand, but I have now broadened my taste now, to most
brands whether Swiss,English, Italian, German, or Japanese.
