Risky business, that...any time it comes off your wrist. I just travel with the one on my wrist for that very reason.
We just had a post by a member who lost his Rolex due to leaving his backpack, where the watch was packed, on a train. I would think twice about your plan. |

I wear the Rolex and carry a G Shock as my back-up watch.

A word of warning !
In the Uk, so it may be different in the USA, your watch is only covered against theft if a) it was on your wrist at the time b) it was in the room the same time as you were. I have a very good insurance but if I left a watch in the hotel whilst I was out doing holiday (vacation) things and it got stolen, the loss is 100% mine. I advise you check your insurance clauses. One watch and I wear it on my wrist. Helps if that watch is a GMT. Even better if it's my Pepsi GMT.

The only issue I see with the Watchpod is the size. It fits "up to 48mm watches" you'll need to wrap a Rolex head in a cloth to get a snug fit. 8mm is a big gap to fill.

Oh and watch cases scream "look at me I am important". So travel with one watch and a beater if need be.

I bought five small green felt pouches on eBay and use one of those.

Exactly how protective are these casebudi, Oakley vault, & watchpod type cases? They seem nice, but I've always been hesitant to buy one. Hesitant, because they look like a soft case that wouldn't offer much protection to be throwing into a travel bag with other stuff that could be smashing against the case. I'm drawn to the case that Ritchie posted above, because it appears to be a hard case.

I travel 2-3 times a year to Asia and I always bring my pair. I put them in Casebudi protective cases which I have been using for 3 years now.

Only my opinion for what it's worth, I decide which watch I'm taking and it stays on my wrist. Back pack is too easy for someone to steal when you're not looking and I wouldn't want to read your watch was stolen. Enjoy your trip mate.

One only, no reason to carry a second. Air King is an excellent travel watch. Simple, no bling and most folks have no idea what it is.

When I travel, I only take one watch. I don't want to have to worry about keeping up with a second one. I carry a Oakley watch vault for putting my watch in and then in my backpack when I go through airport security outside of the USA.

In the US, for every policy I looked at before choosing, theft and accidental loss is pretty basic coverage regardless of whether the watch was in your possession or not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

It sounds like you have the solution. I also use a small "backpack" as my carry-on when traveling. When I carry a second watch, as I sometimes do on cruises, I wrap my second watch in a soft cloth, put it into a small Casebudi watch vault, and stuff it deep into a zippered portion of my backpack. My watches are insured so I don't worry too much. I think the biggest risk is that one of the security screeners will carelessly search through my carry-on.

Check out Pelican cases. Totally bombproof, many sizes available, customizable foam inside. The Rolex of gear cases, in my opinion. -J

Not that I take another watch that often but when I do I use one of the clear plastic coffins that Rolex pack their watches in when delivering to an AD.
It is hard, light and designed for the watch. Also, they are free, just ask your AD for one. |

The green Rolex holders were made for that purpose.
I keep them in the zipped pocket inside my wife's bag. Safe as a bank in there.👍

FYI I also bought a pack of mini micro fiber clothes for camera lens cleaning that I wrap the watch in before putting it in the case budi. Probably not necessary but it makes me happy. |
