Setting time issue

Hi!

I think there is a problem with my Panerai (328) but wanted to confirm since it's been in for repair 2 times without anything being done to it. Each time I get it back they said nothing is wrong and it's functioning as normal.

When I set the time I pull out the crown change the minutes then use the lever to push the crown back in the watch will run for a few seconds and then just stop. At first I would redo it a few times, stopping each time and eventually it wouldn't stop and would run normally.

Since the last "repair" they suggest that the watch isn't fully charged and that I do some manual winding before setting it. Since trying this it seems the problem is better but wanted to get an understanding if this is normal? I do wear it everyday and don't really feel that this "solution" makes any sense but wanted to see what you guys thought?

Thanks!

This needs to be left to the experts but as a rule, I always fully wind any of my watches before setting them and never had an issue.

Before you go any further, I'd suggest not wearing your 328 and let it run until it stops. Once you've done that, fully wind it and then set the time and see if you have the same issue or not. If the watch runs as normal, job done

As Ruud said very well, if the watch isn't running, wind it with 40 full turns of the crown, set the time and see.

Thanks for the responses, by the sounds of it something that seems "normal" but I will go ahead and do the test that was suggested to confirm.

....have a 328, don't use the lever to push the crown in, on this or any panerai

it's an auto so wind it up a bit, 50-60 turns, you can't over wind it, wear it and see how long the power reserve lasts then let us know

good luck

Normal, and they gave correct advice if your lifestyle is not very active. If you are active and wear the watch daily as you indicate there is a problem. I have several that display the issue you have described and the worst is a 270. It needs about three days reserve showing before it reliably restarts after setting.
