Isn't it more strange that it says GMT just under it? It is wrong half of the year when they are on BST(British summer time).

But.. a few months passed by and I went back to the safe and as soon as I saw all of the Rolexes I smiled from ear to ear. They are all now back in rotation.

You are naturally excited by the new model from what is perceived as a higher end brand. With time the excitement doesn't wear off nor subside... its just put into proper perspective.

You will most likely come back to love the Rolex model(s) you have for what they are.

This at least has been my personal experience.
Israguard... your words give me hope. I totally relate to your comments and I hope I will feel soon what you are saying "Come back to love the Rolex I have for what they are".

Thank you so much... really.

Your watch is beautiful, mine is a little different since it doesn't have those orange accents. The strap is kind of nylon/leather with suede on the inner side.

How does the leather strap age? I'm also a little worried since the crown feels delicate compared to the Rolex ones.

@Alexwwjd

Solid watch, JLC is one of those brands where you get the highest quality available but you are not paying Patek prices.
In case you like those worldtimers i would also highly recommend Nomos - Weltzeit (really is a beautiful watch both in white or blue)
I love JLC but sorry it ain't Patek quality either, great watches but not the same level

I'm a serial cheater then, as I always look for the next one even though I got what I thought was the grail. 5970P lasted about 4 months for me, and then the itches started to appear.

My latest high price toy is the Urwerk 210 (bought a few Seiko Tunas in between), and I also like GF GMT except it cost 600k so gonna have to put that off for a while.

New Rolex platinum DD40 (had the platinum DDII but sold that one) looks good too, maybe I get that first.

Thanks mate you too. The combination of black and white is really something, made me feel sporty but has a classic feeling. The true that I love the nylon/leather more than leather/leather for sport watch, it will hold up better in long run.
I agree that Rolex crown is more robust feeling but I love more the tick tick sound of JLC and other high end brand, it like a song singing every time winding the crown.

From my experiene, being on various watch forum, is that Rolexforum generelly has a high standard - people seem quite mature and i would be surprised to see the pitchforks and torchs just by expressing love for other brands than Rolex

So true. At TRF, all brands are respected.

Has this happened to you? Am I alone?

Interesting question... I've been going through this myself lately. For years I only bought and wore Rolex.

Then slowly... I bought an Omega...
Then a JLC...
Then an IWC...
Then an AP...

There were a few Rolex pieces in between those other purchases, some of them kept and some sold.

I love Rolex as a brand and I'm very happy with the current ones I own. But what I've learned is there is more to the world of watched than just Rolex. There are so many other great brands out there and each one has something to offer. That's not a bad thing!

I started with Rolex, but wandered away very early in my collecting. But I've always come back and Rolex still forms a nice subset of my collection and is still the highest represented brand (4 pieces) in the pool.

This is not marriage, you are free to try other [newer / younger / slimmer / older / mature / exotic / faster / slower / bigger / smaller] things without consequences.

I started my watch 'addiction' with a Rolex Daytona and for me then Rolex was the top dog. I got a hulk etc etc but never felt bad when I bought an Omega PO. Same as you though, when I bought an AP 15300st I looked at Rolex with a lesser view if that's the right thing to say. But! After awhile like other members have said my admiration for Rolex returned, the durability, the accuracy of the time keeping. I read more into the history and it's not only the watches now but the whole company I respect. I have other brands but for me Rolex is up there at the top, maybe not for 'fine watchmaking' but as a package and for me what a watch should be it hits all marks.

My first (high-end) watch was a Rolex perpetual Datejust.
Now I have been into other brands, sold the Rolex long time ago, and not even desiring to have any more of it in the future.
