I totally agree. The demand is surging, especially in Asia and Mid-East. I looked around forums for gray pricing on outgoing 1861 and they can be had for around 10% off MSRP.

Some recent buyers are reporting 10%-13% max discount at the ADs for Seamasters. Ofcourse gray dealers are a bit more but not more than 15%-20%. Days of 30% discount are long gone.

I still visit to poke fun here and there.

But countless posts about wrist rolls, AD treatment, divine revealation, all that glitters is rolex gets very tiring.

its nicer here and on OF. we mostly discuss watches which is what I enjoy.

Whether or not its a good strategy time will tell. But I am sure Omega has done their due diligence in determining the course.

Its not new either, they have been doing this consistently over the past 5-10 years. Last year SMP300 got a 13% increase in Canada and they are still like fruit cakes.
I don't know where you live. I'm talking about US. Only last year, it started reduced discounts as supply was drying up with the anticipation of the new model. Till 2018, 40% on grey easily and 30% at AD easily.

Okay, that is like folks buying them before new model release and rumored price increase. It's not the usual demand on Moonwatch. Buying in 2018 at 40% discount and now buying at 18% increase on MSRP is huge difference and different price brackets IMO.

By the way is my new speedmaster a good investment? Should I remove stickers...wait the stickers add 5k in value...I’m 8 years old and need advice on my first speedmaster...oh and I’m so rich look at the steering wheel on my lambermercedferrarporschbentlbomberbsblabber mobile! By the way Rolex is clearly superior to all...kneel before your watch god plebes...

Oh...must have been the wine...

I suspect the new version, which probably will need a new round of NASA testing (and a new case back to signify Mars approved/first watch on Mars). One thing I do believe is that we have entered the next great space decade with SpaceX launches, lunar gateway development, moon/Mars missions etc. When we see that next batch of humans on the moon in a few years, it will only be a matter of time before everyone wants to get their hands on a moonwatch.
Well will see. Increasingly especially with SpaceX, Im seeing the X-33 and not the speedy pro worn. As for mars, I think time may work differently and the X-33 will/may be able to be configured to tell time in both settings, but not with the speedy pro.

On the most recent launch, at least two of the crew were wearing Speedy Professionals. Very cool to see. I’d love to see the new models start to get some space time logged.

I like the new version overall, but not enough to go out and buy one right away.
I currently have a ST1 and a 3572.50 (hesalite w/sapphire back)
Here's a few things I'd like to point out and a few opinions because mine clearly matter so much.
The new bracelet looks a LOT like the Bulova Oceanographer 666 bracelet and also very similar to the older Omega Dynamic Chronograph (I have one). Now this could be a good thing or bad thing depending but I happen to like the bracelet as it's very comfortable and looks aesthetically better than the previous speedmaster one imo.
As for the clasp (although another improvement overall) I could do without the lines as it reminds me of a Rimowa Classic, but an improvement nonetheless.
A bummer for me is the absence of an applied logo on the Hesalite version. Keep the polished mini links and sapphire front crystal but NO applied logo??? Boooo!
The DON, stepped dial, and slight case change are ALL great, so I give those an A+.
And of course the price increase... we all knew it was gonna happen. I suppose in the grand scheme of watches these days it's not so bad. If I didn't have a Speedy up until now, I'd definitely consider getting the new one. But having a few versions already and being on the list for the 321, I feel that should satiate my Speed Master appetite.... or so I hope LOL.

Is it me or are the solid end links appear shorter in the new version?

They are shorter. Also the lugs are tighter as well. This will be hell of a strap monster and will wear a fair bit smaller than the 42mm profile.

Bracelet looks like the undesirable Speedmaster reduced to me and £5370 in U.K. is not worth it. Omega seem to think they have become Rolex! They have lost their way and what they used to stand for in an overcrowded industry! A shame.

That's interesting. From those pictures it looks like the bracelet is different on the sapphire, polished vs brushed small links. Can anyone verify?

Yes the brushed vs polish is a difference. I think that's the only difference on the bracelets between the 2.

Yes, see the photos where it shows the difference between polished and non polished on hesalite

Usually I am not a fan of shine, but this one is so subtle and is make the Sapphire look so much more upscale, I am loving it.

Well done Omega.

I like that they did that. Gives them each a unique personality from each other

Yes indeed. But like in the 60’s, im sure NASA has a good stock of 1861’s and it may be years before the new model is worn.

I've been bitching and moaning about the high polish on the links..and here Omega goes and removes it!! Awesome...

If I didn't already have one I would buy this today!!

p.s. now if they would only offer a ceramic bezel...

Probably they hear you and will be added for the next reiteration, 25 years from now on

Joke aside small steps proved winning recipe so it will be added for sure having in mine Omega added a modern mvt (3861)

The more I see the hesalite & sapphire side by side, the more I want the hesalite.

The step dial on both is a nice touch.

Hello,

I have waiting for Submariner for two years.. thinking to get Speedmaster (again..I sold it many years ago).
Curious about your thoughts, should we expect some discount on these models or those days has gone with Omega?

Do you really expect a discount at the moment on a watch which hasn't even been delivered to the shops yet?

I don't see any discounts unless you're a longtime customer of an AD. Even then it'll be minimal. If you want a discount, you'll be waiting for a year at least. The days of 30%+ discounts are gone for now.
