We were between the XC90 and the Infiniti QX60 a couple years back. Didn't feel like the 3rd row in the XC90 provided enough space.

Went with the QX60 and no regrets there, as it's been a great, reliable vehicle for us.

It’s a great SUV with many accolades. Safe, understated, and well built luxury.

I will echo J's sentiment about the 3rd row, my 4 runner has a more comfy 3rd row, another reason we went with that, dont know what the specs say

Test drove that, an X5, and the Q7. Ended up with the Q7. The XC90 was luxurious but the performance left me feeling meh.

The newer Volvo's look really nice. Can't speak to reliability but they have come a long way on the stying dept..

It is the SUV of choice in our neighborhood. Easily 6-7 on our street alone. The first family that bought one had issues with it totally shutting down at inopportune times but it was fixed after a couple of service updates. Everyone now raves about them for a great blend of luxury, safety and reliability.

The folks coming from Audi and BMW bemoan the trade off in performance. The ones from Lexus praise the improved ride quality.

When I drove one in the Colorado mountains, I was surprised at its competence in getting over a high pass with only a 4 cylinder. I was totally blown away by the interior finish.

Don't forget Japanese. But Volvo makes a solid vehicle IMO.

Love mine - always been a big Volvo fan.

Best SUV on the market over here. Appreciate you have more choice in the US though.

Regularly take it off road around the estate and no issues.

Big fan of the new Volvo SUVs, the XC90 included...only wish the SUV of that size would come with a slightly larger engine.

I have leased Volvo's for my wife for her last 3 cars. She loves them. She currently has an XC90. Pros: drives like a car. Third row seat. Not huge. Cons: not as big as a tahoe, so if you have a bigger family and need more room it may not be the best.

Overall Volvo is a pretty good bang per buck car. I have not had many issues with them. A couple of times I have had to bring them into the dealer to fix a computer glitch, but nothing big.

My automotive opinion is generally buy Japanese, lease European, steer clear of American.

For the XC90, comfy and nice, but it’s a lease. With that engine combo and the tech there’s no way I’d actually buy it. If these things actually have value to you, CR gives it a 62... with a below average predicted reliability. Far better than many American and most other European utes but generally behind Japanese rides.

We just started a 3 year lease on ours. Love it so far. They just released a 6 seat version with captain's seats in the 2nd row. That row is comfortable for adults; 3rd row is fine for 2 kids.

Drives well enough - not a Porsche, but definitely more agile and peppy than our old Honda Pilot (I know that's probably not saying much). Perfect blend between luxury/performance and practicality.

3 rows. Solid. Faster 0-60 than the Porsche Macan if you get the T6 engine. Wife loves hers. Fantastic suv. Volvo hit it out of the park. The next one will probably be the plug in hybrid with massage seats. Hey oh.

Phenomenal SUVs in that range. The t6 r design is just unbeatable in that price range

I have a 2019 S60 T6 R-Design previously had a 2017 S90 T6.

Don’t have any insight specific to the XC90 but I couldn’t be happier with the Volvos I have had. The fit, the finish, the technology, and the design are amazing and everyone that rides in my car loves it. We have a Benz in the family and I used to always want to drive it and now I don’t miss it as at all.

My mom has a 2011 XC90 that just ticked over 180,000 miles with zero major issues ( knock on wood ). She test drove a 2018 back in 2017 and she was underwhelmed. The huge display and new features of the newer models are amazing, but she said her 2011 felt more powerful ( and her 2011 was just the base AWD V6 ). I think if you want anything in the power department you have to step up to the T8 package which is both electric and gas and has a combined HP rating of over 400. It’s also MUCH more than a T5 or T6.
