Info please on a 'Smiths De Luxe 15 Jewels'
I was given this watch when my Great Uncle Harry died many years ago. I know absolutely nothing about it other than what it says on the front - 'Smiths De Luxe 15 Jewels Shockproof' and that it is engraved on the back thanking him for 43 years service with British Railways (it was a retirement gift).
A cursory search through the web has come up with nothing and I wondered if any of you fine TRF folk would have any info on these watches? Many thanks |

I couldn't find a lot about these watches but did find an old ad.
http://store.vintagepaperads.com/ser...De-Luxe/Detail I was also to find several on ebay. http://stores.shop.ebay.com/smithwatches__W0QQ_armrsZ1 Last but not least I was able to find a little bit of history about the now defunct company. http://www.broadarrow.net/smiths.htm |

My dad had a Smiths and my brother when he was a kid in the sixties. I still have it but it's in pieces. I think Edmond Hilary wore one on Everest -Smiths did not have the marketing savy of Rolex.
