Check ebay. There is a guy on ebay selling very deceptive inserts that are not genuine and identified by the seller as aftermarket. If you see one like yours from this seller, then you'll have your answer. I can't remember the guys ebay screen name at this time but he sells them out of Florida.

Edit - The seller is oldwatchparts in Sarasota, Florida. Here is a link to one of his auctions. Check the fonts on the insert in question to some of his inserts.

Fairly certain not genuine. Call it 90% sure.

Looks like I see orange peel at the 23 hour from being painted--aren't these supposed to be aluminum inserts?

We need someone that doesn't have a day job to stay up with these variations of aftermarket inserts. I can't. A clue, and for me, a significant clue for it being non genuine would be...if it looks new, then it probably is and would not be something I would recommend as genuine.

Additionally, before someone adds to my message, yes, I know, they are aging this aftermarket inserts too. As a guide though, if looks new, BEWARE!

The base rate of aftermarket is almost 100% when the description says "Pepsi Insert for 16750" vs "Genuine 16750 Pepsi Insert".

here's the insert in question. Seller posted some angled shots. Not seeing anything suspect to be honest. If anyone does, pls share so we can learn something.
Apart from some bleeding at 10 (which is possible), it looks fine.

Looking in between #’s 4 and 6 it seems to have a scrape or indentation is that even possible without scratching it?

I've been comparing this insert for the past hour or so to several known genuine and aftermarket inserts in my library and can't say one way or the other for sure, but, if I had to make a call, I would agree with Swaini at this time that unless anyone comes up with something substantive it could very well be genuine.

I would rate the condition of this insert to be excellent which is not very common these days for 50-year-old inserts. There seem to be many of these inserts being sold lately in this condition so it would benefit any potential buyer to do some homework on their own to verify if a potential purchase is 100% genuine or not.

Fascinating if it is a fake and they are now that close to original! If it is being sold; would be interested to know what it is being sold as and what price is being asked. Single post poster feels a bit like it could be a 'spot the error on my replica for me'. Not to cast aspersions on the OP but we've had a few of these recently.

Thanks ttg- seems the seller has a golden goose _ something I forgot when I sold all my businesses in 2017 and (slightly forgot) hitherto, had no income whatsoever ....
