That 7924
Ebay indicates that 7924 sold for 30K - a little on the low end of the range I expected.
Wonder when we see the head, less insert and bezel show up somewhere. (no need to bring up the seller as he is not here to counter anything)

Personally, I was surprised it went that high. I don’t think seller did himself any favors making bidding private.

I would like to think that a knowledgeable person picked this up to part out. But given the private bidding, I wouldn't be shocked to see it re-listed.

My thoughts exactly , it’s one thing to sell something on the bay, another thing to get paid for it.

Just looking at the parts 30k is cheap. I have no problem at all if the watch is restored properly or if someone just takes the insert for another watch and sells the rest. Whatever serves a purpose.

Definitely a lot of potential no matter what route is taken. I imagine the insert being sold off and fixing the Tudor up with replacement parts would net the most profit. But after hearing from the seller, I’d be surprised if he let it go for 30 - eBay and PayPal’s cut

The wildcard is the insert - I half expect to see the insert cleaned up and on someone else's watch and we'll see the bare 7924 somewhere else. There are a lot more of us with 7924 with 100M 7922, 7928 dials, or redials then there are spare 7924 dials

It’s kind of sad that most 7924’s been robbed of their insert. Even when they were correct. I always get a bit warm and fuzzy when I see unmolested Tudor big crowns with a mint red triabgle insert. So rare!

you'll think poor of me but whoever is paying $10-15K for a piece of aluminum that sits on a watch is simply.....crazy!

I hope the guy gets his money and enjoys it.
Now, I totally understand that we all value and place a premium on originality. For that watch, I think it can be enjoyed as is with a somewhat of a screwball dial. If I had a choice between that 7924 and a nice $30k gilt 5513, I’d take The 5513. I would also prefer three nice 7021s at $10k each. |

I’m not in the high end vintage parts game, but the prices are not crazy at all, they follow their market.
They are rare (af) and sought after so it’s not crazy at all; it’s just another league of collecting. And yes, a correct mil sub insert is what, 30-50k these days? Hell long 5’s are 2k +\- , it just is what it is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You'd be crazy to wear one of those Bakelite inserts at today's prices, knowing it WILL break and you'll lose so many thousands of dollars. |
