End of the Road .......?

I must first of all thank this forum for the knowledge I got about Rolex from all of you.

I started seriously looking into Rolex from the year 2016-2017. I joined the forum in 2016. My first watch was sub was an A series 1999 model picked up new and somewhere along the way I also picked up the 16700 GMT A series and a few years down the road my Daytona also at MRP from an AD

From 2017 onward I was really very lucky to have picked up the rest of my collection all from ADs and all of them at MRP, without buying a PM piece or bundling it with another purchase.

Yesterday I got a call from my AD offering me the new Submariner LV.

I was over the moon . Told the AD that I will be coming the next day to pick it up.
This morning I woke up and it dawned on me that I have a pretty large Collection of watch’s and they hardly see wrist time. And here I was getting ready to go pick up another one .......
and the excitement I felt the day before was gone .....
I no longer felt the compulsive and instinctive need to own it.
I now feel that I am done with buying any more watches for some time.
I then called my AD and told him that I am going to pass on this Rolex and will look at it after a few months.
Don’t know if it is a decision I will regret down the line....

A few pictures of my collection that I would like to dedicate to all the members here and thank you all for sharing your knowledge and insights which helped me build up this collection

Very nice collection. I think you made the right call not getting the new Sub.

Great collection - I would have taken the LV and sold something else. For onE it’s a new size and it wears very nicely. Smaller lugs too.

I envy you my friend. Not because of your collection (which is awesome) but your state of contentment. Enjoy it, the watches and the feeling. I'm sure it isn't the end of the road but rather a different path.

Collecting is such a personal choice it’s impossible for me to say what is right for you.

Now if it were me I probably would pair back on the quantity of watches and focus on what I really want to own and wear.

It sounds like you made the right decision for you, as you already have quite a substantial number of watches in your collection.

Enjoy them

Well said. Contentment even as a temporary state of mind is a positive. Great collection OP; good luck and good health to you.

Took a ton of guts and restraint to say no. I can understand though. I recently announced my "retirement" yesterday after picking up a SS Daytona 116520.

Granted Not the 116500 and that is the only caveat to my retirement, AD call only and if it does something is leaving.

So you said no and it was an AD call. Kudos to you.

I understand well what you were feeling when you looked at your collection and wondered why you needed another watch. I felt that way a couple of years ago when I downsized my collection. It was driving me nuts having watches I wasn't wearing or even trying to force myself to wear. Great decision to let someone else have the watch!!! You've a great collection already and if you are happy with what you have that's all that matters. Enjoy what you have and enjoy being free from compulsion!!!

I am feeling the same these days. I still have a 116610 that I wore once from the AD and now it sits in a box. I kept telling myself I would wear it, but just doesn’t happen. I recently made the decision to have one my old favorites serviced and now that one is my daily wear...my ball watch. It was a watch that really made me appreciate this hobby. I am worn out with the recent market games we have been experiencing. Hell, they are just watches. I have been more interested in getting back into backpacking trips and the gear for it. I appreciate what I have and hope to keep it at that for now.

You’ve been too kind to leave out some details that you’ve also helped a few people here to get some desired watches - I certainly benefited from your kindness. The way you treat people/life/business, has been inspirational, and I’m pretty confident that your collection is a reflection of well you are regarded generally (certainly by your AD).

Hope you’re keeping well my friend!

I'd say you don't need it. The new LV is for everyone who couldn't get a Hulk ;). Well done, for the difficult but mature decision.
