Upgrade to latest version of SMP?

I have the one generation older SMP with Sapphire.

I do like the new clasp on the current SMP more!

What’s everyone thought on this? Selling my one gen old SMP in like new condition, I guess will be lucky to break even and have to folk out another 25% premium to get the current gen. That is holding me back :)

Sounds like you'll enjoy the new model, and it's only a few bucks. Go for it.

It depends. If you are a fan I'd keep the old one and add the new in a different color.

I prefer the 41 mm size but you can't deny the technology in the model.

I have the previous 2500d SMPc and there's a few reasons why I haven't added the latest one. The current model is thicker, the white numerals on the bezel are VERY white compared to the grey on the 2500d. The main reason though is the new bracelet/endlinks. The new ones make the bracelet kind of 'sprout' out from the endlinks. Looks fine on slimmer wrists but for the bigger gentlemen it looks kind of strange.

Aside from that, they are a very nice piece. I love the wave dials, the movement and the display caseback.

If it's just the clasp you like, why not buy one and fit it to your current SMP bracelet?

I think the SMPc will age better
Current one look a bit too loud

I prefer the newer model and the advance they have made. Keep what you have and buy a different color or sell what you have and get the same color. Nice decision to make on a cool watch.

Do they wear the same? To me they look very similar so it’s come down to comfort on the wrist.

I'm all for getting both if that's a possibility. Luckily this newest version will be around for a while, at least a few more years. However, life is short. I personally like to collect, even if it takes longer. You'll appreciate having both.

If you can't justify having two very similar watches though you'll have to visit an AD multiple times, compare them side by side, take wrist shots, and think it over for a while prior to selling.

There's no rush in that sense, but it's a win-win once you're happy with your choice in the end!
