Questionable Oyster bracelet
Hello everyone,
I recently received an Oyster bracelet as part of a trade. It was “thrown in” because it is of questionable authenticity. I think this matter could be put to bed very quickly by someone knowledgeable. I already suspect it’s fake because of one single fact, it has no reference code on it -anywhere! The endlinks are folded and stamped 455b, while the clasp has the diver’s fold out and is marked 50190. It is a 5 digit sub style. I’ve never handled one in person so it’s hard for me to judge but I can say, quality-wise, it feels NOTHING like my 6 digit sub bracelet. This one is very light and “jangly”. Anyway, any help is appreciated! Thanks |

I mean, it's hard to tell without pictures but in the past you could have had bracelets cobbled together and sometimes can end up with weird combinations or whatever. Re: the feel, maybe you should handle some 4 and 5 digit bracelets from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. They are quality for sure (except for those terrible "Made in the USA" ones) but feel different to the more modern versions. |

455b end links would be two-tone Jubilee parts, and a 50190 clasp is meaningless.

Sorry there’s no pics. I have a hard time getting quality shots uploaded. They always turn out over compressed and hard to see much detail.
Anyway, I think the info given is enough to confirm what I already believed :) Thanks!!! |

50190 x9?
Maybe....
Y'all could help me solve a mystery...around this 50190 part # I have either a 1600 or 1601....In excellent condition Pale Silver/Champagne Pie Pan- All Lume plots Correct markings No corrosion The 2nd hand stops to reset the date so it must be later 1970's issue never opened it to look. So here is what is weird...the jubilee bracelet has folding clasp and inside is stamped Steelinox 50190 X9 Using the 5 digit bracelet number that makes the last digit - "O" and there fore stainless For the Date X9... would that be 1999?...making the bracelet older than the watch? Rolex lists a part # for the jubilee bracelet for 1601/02 as 62510H-20. ie 20mm----- which is the rolled steel style. It seems to be genuine Rolex bracelet but it is native to the 1601/1603 series? I have found two of these bracelets with the same stamp for sale on the internet....one of is pictured here. Does anyone know if this is Rolex original or pieced together? FYI I bought this watch for $2500 in Feb 2020. It looks much better than in the pics. All Stainless and the face gives off a soft champagne glow in the right lighting. |
