How in the world did you end up with a BNIB spare EW 321?

My local Omega boutique, recently became privately owned, told me today that to be on a list for an allocation I had to have a purchase history of $50,000 with the store. She offered me a ‘57 Speedy instead. I rather wait 4 ever for a Daytona.

I've become quite enamoured of this watch, but it seems like I came a bit too late too the party. Anyone know if Omega Boutiques still take names for this at all in the States?

Yes, they’ll take you name. Helpful if you have a spend history with them. I just got on the list earlier this year and was told I’ll probably eventually get one but the OB (not a small OB) got only one in for all of 2021.

the cost differential between MSRP to grey isn't crazy though, with the current market dropping you might be able to get one without too much premium.

That's the hope, but am deciding between a handful of watches (EW321, GMT CHNR) or just saving up for a special purchase (PM Speedy or Daytona).

I have become more and more smitten with this piece since its release, and began hunting a few weeks ago for one grey as I know the boutique route is a waste of time.

The premium is there but it isn't that high if you shop around. I should have mine this week and I'd rather pay a few thousand over than wait 5 years and buy 4 watches I don't really want.

So how does that compare to the retail price?

I asked my Omega dealer about this watch and they honestly appeared as if they had never heard of it. So I would guess not many come through! If they are telling you 5 years, you are going to have to find another avenue--that probably means they aren't even going to put you on a list. The grey markup on these actually isn't as crazy as some other watches. You might consider that route.

My Omega boutique received around 35 Snoopy 50's and only 5 EW 321's.

Correct, it is boutique only.

The AD I spoke to at release had no idea what they were doing, and they were taking deposits …. I wonder what happened to folks who got on their list?
