Best one watch collection Patek?
I was recently entertaining the thought of consolidating and having a one watch collection. It's hard to pick a single watch that kinda does it all. As much as I love every single watch in my collection (not just the ones from Patek but also pieces from other brands), I came to the conclusion that perhaps 5168g-001 aquanaut could be my one and only.
What would be your one watch Patek collection and why? |

5227 Calatrava. Why? Classic enough to work in formal settings, but its size and case/lug design make it work fairly well in more casual settings as well. The lack of water resistance would be an inconvenience, but I would choose that inconvenience over having to wear a sports watch or bracelet watch to more formal affairs. Note: IMHO a one watch collection is unworkable - a 5227 and a 5167 and I’m good for all situations; one or the other, and I’m scrambling for options.

For a one-and-done, do-anything Patek I’d be inclined to say 5146/1G

I don't think there can be a one-for-all, but I pick the 5164a Travel Time. It's just so comfortable, understated, and a super convenient dual time zone complication.

Would say 5726. Lightness of steel, annual calendar, water resistant.

5711 blue.
Why? One watch collection should be able to do it all. Steel sports watch elegant enough to also work in a formal setting. Agree that 5726 could do the job too but I dislike the dial layout and would always go for 8 over 11mm thickness. |

The 5524g or 7234g
Reason: 60m wr, sporty yet dressy, best complication ever with a date, legible day and night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I must agree. The Aquanaut is stellar throughout. Well done. My 3729 is too dressy for a weekend of golf.

5711 checks all the boxes for me. Sporty /dressy / water resistance / auto wind.
Can really serve as a single watch for all occasions minus the most brutal of activities. I will concede however if you prefer a dress watch on leather than there are many other offerings to choose from. Difficult to choose one. But for me it would be a PC 5940 or 3940 (like Mr Stern chose as his daily) or 5140. And if I’m dreaming a chrono 5950 or 3670 will do it.

Call me biased, but the one watch that does it all is the 5712.

To me, the 6119G oozes with Patek class, simplicity and heritage
It’s impossible to capture the dial beauty in pictures!

Aside of the Nautilus and Aquanauts that are really great watches as an everyday wear, my 1 watch would be a 5960.
More precisely I'd like a 5960P grey or black dial. It gathers many things I like in an everyday watch, the right balance between classy and sporty, the PR (also useful to indirectly control its accuracy), a 12-hour chronograph, the AC, a Platinum case... Imho of course. |

My pick. You can also put it on green, beige, grey rubber straps to match your outfit. Doesn’t look bad on bracelet either.

Oh man, if I have to pick one and only Patek for life then the Minute Repeater 5078. It's probably out of my reach cuz so expensive. So, I think 5270 Salmon could be my best shot.

I am a casual - semi formal guy for most of the time, so either Aquanaut or Nautilus for me. If your wrist is big enough, then Nautilus 3700 (neo vintage) / 5711 (modern), or Aquanaut 5065/5060 (neo vintage) / 5167 (modern). If your wrist is small like mine, then Nautilus 3800/5800, or aquanaut 5066. Simplicity at its best
