The speedmaster is winning…
I posted a thread some time ago about cutting down on some of my classic looking pieces.
That included the 124060, new speedmaster, 14060m, 16610 and 214270. Since then I’ve been enjoying the speedmaster the most to my surprise. On its new bracelet it provides a lot of the “vintage charm” that the 5 digits do. And I find it more visually interesting than the explorer. Just my experience so far. I change my mind often! I like your taste in watches based on the ones you have in your collection. If I’m
Being honest with myself…the Speedmaster is the coolest watch I own in my collection. You’re right that it has a cool vintage charm on the new bracelet. |

The new bracelet on the speedmaster is phenomenal. I tried one on while I was in Aruba and regret not pulling the trigger. It’s definitely on my radar

The Speedmaster is a great watch and the 3861 on bracelet is very cool.

OP, which speedmaster do you have and what’s unique about the bracelet? A 321?

I’d be all over the new hesalite Speedmaster but the stripes on the clasp just don’t jive with the rest of the watch. Don’t know why they didn’t make a cleaner looking clasp. Otherwise it looks phenomenal and I miss having a Speedy in the collection

The speedmaster is winning…
I just bought a 3861 bracelet for my 1861 speedy. Completely transforms the watch for me.
The previous bracelet was good quality, but in my opinion was visually bulky and I didn’t enjoy wearing it (especially after getting used to the 4mm taper of the 126610). Now just waiting for Omega to provide an adjustable clasp - like the one found on the chronoscope - for the new bracelet.

Interesting, I find the stripes add something. Tbh I find them more cohesive than the older sub clasps which try to trick us that the links are still going Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The bracelet is the reason I got the 3861, along with the step dial and more defined sub dials.

Same here, wanted a speedy a long time ago but the past bracelet was just not appealing to me. The new one changed that and I pulled the trigger on the sapphire sandwich, now after enjoying the watch on the bracelet I’m starting to change straps and give it a new look.

Can anyone post a picture of the new bracelet side by side with the older one?

Travelling at the moment so can’t take photos, but this one from Hodinkee should give you a sense of the difference, especially the taper. The new bracelet is significantly lighter too (maybe 20-30grams when configured for my 7.5inch wrist).

The new bracelet (including new end links) fits the older 1861 speedy *almost* perfectly. My AD said there was something like a 0.1mm gap between the end links and older case owing to the slight lug redesign of the case used for the 3861 speedy. In reality I don’t notice anything visually, but it’s probably a tiny bit more “jangly” than in stock configuration. I think the 3861 bracelet was around £600, and available in both fully brushed (hesalite) or brushed/polished (sapphire) configurations.
