Rolex 1680 Meters First worn every day since 1971 with plenty of DNA, then serviced.
The owner of this watch, Mike Borkovic did post this watch here to find help servicing it as some of you may have noticed. Mike mentioned that he never took this watch off since 1971. Father purchased it new in '69 and after wearing it for two years, decided it was not to his liking, so he passed it down, then purchased a different style.
After speaking with Mike, we put together a game plan as to preserving it and maintaining the value. Sure enough, after bathing the case, caseback, bezel and bracelet, all the DNA was removed to show the true beauty behind it! After all that work, I would say this was truly a fun piece to work on! Thanks, Mike!

Surprisingly clean and without rust for all that gunk. Looks really nice Phillip! The second picture makes it look like a miniature forest surrounding lake Red Sub. Going to add—ewwwww. And maybe a little Dawn soap going forward…

Yes, have to agree, absolutely grody and caked with my life as a DoD field engineer.
I had waded thru swamps and feel off a tank, but it never failed me. In June I went to re-set the date and nothing happened. So, I found Phil. We spoke and I received the watch today. Thru his patience, diligence, and knowledge, I got dads watch back. And time is spot on. Thanks again Phil. best, Mike |

Thanks and on my wrist as I type. Not bad for $280 in 1969.

Although it was very nasty I think all of us would not have hesitated to buy it from you before it was cleaned.
As dirty as it was you could tell it was a real diamond in the ruff. Congratulations and job well done on the clean up.

Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful watch and glad you wore it like an extension of your arm. Phillip serviced my watch too, which was a gift from my Dad and going forward I have a renewed appreciation for it. Wear it in good health!

So nice to see it used as intended. And restored without being shined up like a display piece. Still looks ready for another fifty years of action.
I believe there was also mention of another metres first 1680 that’s never been worn? I was dubious at first, but after seeing this… |

Interesting how white the indices are and how the beveling on the lugs has been rounded off from wear.
