How much can I offer ?

I need some advice , I'm planning to buy one more watch for my small collection , I've been offered this two : a Rolex Ref. 6238 and a Ref. 6542 (bakelite bezel & jubilee bracelet) , both are in good condition , the 6542 has a new pair of hands , how much can I offer and wich one is a better investment ?,

rgrds,

The replaced hands kind of bother me, they don't match up with the dial.

x2. Since I'm a Fan of James Bond, and George Lazenby used that a Rolex chrono like that one in "On her Majesty's Secret Service" and the Hands of the GMT make it look weird, My choice? Definitely the Pre-Daytona IMHO

I'd go with the GMT. It wears its age better and looks like it has a few stories to tell!

I think the replacement hands bring the value of the GMT down a bit. I think the Chrono is a little bit more uncommon.

WHAT???????????
Ummm do you know what you are saying?

Sorry but with that post WOW....

I REALLY hope the OP does not listen to you!

Both are great and very desirable pieces.

It is a shame the hands have been replaced on the GMT but you can source period correct ones.... The bezel is the hard part to get on that one.

If you don't buy them send me the owners info please.

I was going to say something along the lines of that, but I could not word it right.

Between the two, I would choose the GMT. It has the bakelite bezel which is uncommon, and the chrono has replacement hands. Both are wonderful, but these two factors tip the scales for me just enough.

Come on, JJ surely you have something to add, such as, "does the seller have a nice cleavage?"

I think Rolex Chronograph should be worth big bucks.
They normally range $4k to $20K and more.
Both are great for any collection

The GMT is really more atractive to me ,its really an eye-catcher , the hands bother me , even do we went to the local AD and opened the watch to check it , everything is ok but the hands , is it possibles to get the correct time period ones ? , what will be a fair offer for it ? ,

please some good advice will be sincerly welcome,

Chrono would be the one. Has riveted bracelet.
Value could be around 9 to 10,000.00USD.

Go with the GMT. The hands can be replaced.
