I may open one in a week or two but I've got 2 three packs lying on their sides for a long nap.

Context - I have a very good friend in the Boston area who absolutely loves to open a bottle as soon as it arrives on his doorstep from the winery. Doesn't matter if it's Scarecrow, SQN, Harlan, etc. We joke that he'd be happiest if he had a big straw and were just drinking straight from the barrel. He does appreciate vino with some age on it. But he loves the freshness and vigor of recent releases.

Any tips on shipping wine from the US to France? Which carrier to use. How many bottles. Cost. I have a French friend that I want to send some wine to. He says California wines are hard to get there.

Pulled a few out of storage for drinking in the near future.
Had the Car Von Schubert 2007 Spatlese yesterday, amazingly full bodied and still could use a few more years in the cellar. The Topiary Chard was also mighty fine.

I highly recommend this winery just a 3 minute drive from Schloss Johannisberg if you want quality Riesling Kabinett and Spätlese. Their production is small and they do not export so you must visit them. Highly recommended stop if you find yourselves in that region of the Rhine. http://www.weingut-hanka.de/weingut.htm & the list http://www.weingut-hanka.de/pdf/Weinpreisliste.pdf

We've been in that area and # of years ago, on one of our road trips..and of course had to search out Piesport on the Mosel.. One of my wife's favorite wines.. They make an excellent Riesling..!

We had a work wine dinner last night and that was the line up. Prevost and Mascalese Barolo were delicious but the pick of the bunch was the CS Cornelissen. For you wine connoisseurs if you have not tried Nerello Macscalese from Frank Cornelissen I strongly suggest you try and source some the 2014 single Vineyard range is top notch and is drinkable now with a lot of decanting time but will be delicious in about 10 yrs. |

Heading to the annual charity wine auction we attend. And this is one of the lots up for auction. Lots of other good wine up for bid. We generally refrain from too much bidding.

That is AWESOME!!! A lot of history right there!!!! I always think it is interesting that you tend to hear more about the Montelena Chard from the 'Judgement of Paris' in '76and not a lot about the Stags Leap!!! Would love to know what it goes for!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

A friend who owns a restaurant on the west coast just sent me a care package, mostly older Burgs but one interesting CA gem a 1976 Chappellet, I need to give these a month at least he says, traveling across the country really puts the wine in a volatile state and it takes that long for them to settle and show at top form, news to me, I thought a week was enough time but apparently not???

It's been a LONG week in work and it's only Thursday. I'm home alone (well the little fella is tucked up in bed) so thought I'd try this....

Simply...The Wine Thread
Bottled my Bordeaux/Rhone blend this morning. Estate grown, produced and bottled. It came out to about 100 bottles in total. It is so inky black, rich, soft, bold and dynamic. 18 months on medium toast, Limousine region French oak for 18 months.
