East Bay Rider

I live on the east bay of RI (Rhode Island) and I enjoy riding motorcycles so I just merged East Bay RI and Rider to make the screen name.

Mine is a variation of my last name, the guys gave my Dad when he was in the army! And coincidentally, my own friends did the same thing using the same name!
And my Avatar is a pic of my wife and I in Hawaii!

From Denver, the Mile High City, 5280' above sea level...the irony, we now live at sea level at the Beach.

My username came from my smartphone obsession. Every time I would see my group of buddies, I'd have a different Android phone or iPhone. I've settled into mostly holding onto my iPhone, but subbing in a flagship Android phone every once in a while.

Instead of phones, it's been watches lately. Lots of flipping.

Way back I worked for an investment bank and to sign on to the AS/400 the user name was your first initial + the first three letters of your last name....which in my case was t +fly hence tfly ...which has been a nickname for 15 years now. I move from SF to NYC 12 years ago and the 212 is a nod to that.

"Boothroyd" (Major Boothroyd) was a character from the Bond novels, later known in the movies as "Q".

Major Boothroyd was a real person, who advised Ian Fleming on choices of weaponry used in the books.

Since Fleming wore an Explorer, and as it was my first Rolex, and I have been a fan of the books/movies…I figured it would be a reasonable moniker for TRF. I also work in technology, so I liked the fit.

Nothing to do with actors Rock Hudson or Dwayne Johnson.
A 'take' on the name of my city of origin, surname, and taste in music.

Love the "porn-name" references.
Had never heard of this until a few years ago when a lighthearted workplace conversation elicited some hilarious names. (Unfortunately mine isn't funny).

Obberon is the Irish wolfhound in the Iron Druid Book Series. Loved the books and Oberon ( proper spelling) was cool.

Explain your username!!

Hanging on to my original awful AOL screen name... minus the obligatory random number that was attached.

I think when I signed up I was just back from the Philippines where I had been enjoying Sarsi rootbeer, which was not available where i was at the time (in the UK). Bought our first Rolex from Heathrow on our way out there.

As a newcomer to Rolex at that time I was unaware of the GMT rootbeer at the time.

A salute to my father (may he rest in peace). A WWII vet and "D" Day first wave participant who carried and operated a Bren for the duration. As most of them he seldom talked about it. I can't imagine the images he witnessed looking down the sights.

Love ya pops.

I had a 1969 Mustang Mach One with a 351 that I restored. I swore I would never get rid of, so it has been a username for me too...but I sold it.
