Bracelet, rubber, and leather strap. In addition, blue dial ... go with the VC.

The VC I am considering is used but mint. It could be as much as 40% off msrp though. So I think it's very attractive

For that price I’d go with the Overseas. VC is a member of the Holy Trinity and Pre-Owned offer a great value.

Holy trinity or not it's a marketing or people opinions only. In terms of overall quality of the product it is indeed VC has the upper hand, generally speaking.

Rolex Sky Dweller? Or a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chrono?

Vacheron. I had a half-day private tour of their manufacturing operations in Geneva earlier in the month. The craftsmanship is simply on a completely different level.

SkyD - I loved the VC in photos, but was underwhelmed when seeing it live.

The VC is clearly superior in every way to the SD, and if the price is close an easy decision. Plus with all of the straps it'll be way more versatile.

Please PM me your source if you choose to pass on the overseas!

VC easily, though I also prefer the second generation, with the big date and asymmetrical subdials

What issues have you heard? As one data point, I had a warranty issue that required a full service. Vacheron turned around the watch in 8 days.

I wear it all the time and casually and there is nothing formal or flashy about it.

That is a very nice price... esp if its a keeper as it will fall further on resale as it looks like going the way of the 2 gen.

The guy I know who has one wore it on his ski trips this year. Seems like the antithesis of flashy.

I'd vote Sky Dweller. I think the annual calendar is far more useful than a chronograph which most people have just for looks and will never press the buttons to make it run. The VC may be more unique in that it isn't seen a lot, but so far neither are the SkyD's.

Thanks guys. I think I have made up my mind. I am negotiating with the VC and will see if I can get it to a price that I can't resist.

Not a Royal Oak though it's not a bad choice. I wouldn't pay for what it is though.

But anyways I would go with VC. I honestly think the SkyD looks horrendous. On paper, it’s legitimate and offers a lot for the price, however the actual aesthetic execution looks gaudy. I’m sure I’m in the minority on a Rolex Forum though.

Honestly, most every guy with a serious collection consisting of ‘Top Tier’ brands, never has that piece either. A Sub, Explorer, GMT or Daytona, yes, but not a SkyD. In my opinion, I think I think that says something about it’s longevity and it not being timeless design.
