126710 Pepsi...saw it in person...

So I finally got to see the 126710 in all of it's glory today. Here's my take aways...

1) The new SuperDuper Jubilee is comfortable. In the short time I had it on, it was on par with the Oyster of my 116710BLNR.
2) The new SuperDuper Jubilee is BLINGY AF (as the kids say). I mean it's over the top disco ball grade bling IMO. It makes the PCL Oyster bracelet seem subdued.
3) YES, the blue is a purplish blue. I used my "cool blue" LED flash light on it to help it out and it was still purplish blue.
4) YES, the red is a pinkish red. Even with a ~6500K LED flashlight on it.
5) Both of the colors looks washed out. Especially next to the BLNR where the colors look very "acute".
6) My name will remain on the million mile long wait list. :)

As a side note on the color "accuracy", I have done the Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test in person (the real timed test, not the online test) multiple times under multiple lighting conditions in a color-match light box for my job, I've scored 100% every time. I only mention this so people understand that the colors I see aren't just "opinion" and that I fully understand the effects of lighting conditions.

And because no thread is valid without pictures, here's one...this is an accurate representation of what I saw.

Oh where's that guy that said I didn't understand that the BLNR was "overhyped" because I didn't own one...lol.

Thanks for sharing. Those high resolution shots are very useful as comparisons.

Thanks for the color comparison.

Were you able to get CHNR photos as well? Curious how the brown looks.

Where was the venue? An AD in USA?

I think the Jubilee bracelet looks nice with a GMT, while it will never work with something like a Sub.

Thanks for the pic. You are spot on about purple and pink vs blue and red.

Anyone else put off by the faded colour?

Fantastic write-up and pic. Thanks for the insights, as well as telling us your background. I found that to be helpful.

How do the lugs on the BLRO compare to those on the BLNR? I know we have a side-by-side view, but did you notice a difference when looking at in person or when wearing it?

Thanks for sharing.

I like it but the blingy thing is a turn off for me. I'll stick with my BLNR.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. I just hope this helps people make an informed decision and I hope to end the "debate" about the colors on the Ceramic Pepsi...lofty goal, I know...

I didn't really notice it at all. Granted I didn't get to sit down and REALLY examine it but after having it sit on my wrist for a few minutes, I can honestly say that I didn't notice a difference. Maybe with extended wear but yeah, no "ah ha" moment.

I also tried on the new Deep Sea and my take away from that is that it's STILL a boat anchor...Gen.1 or Gen.2. I can't imagine wearing that daily, I would be knocking the hell outta everything.

It amuses me how vintage GMT owners love faded inserts (denim, fushia et al) and pay stupid money for them, whereas the colours seem to be universally reviled on the new watch

This is how the New Pepsi GMT bicoloured cerachrom should be presented and comparison made with the "Acute" BLNR. Very few people in the world would use the term Acute when describing a colour so I'm really impressed with your professionalism. I didn't get the reply I was looking for in another thread but your post is absolutely brilliant ! Thank You Sir

There’s a difference between a natural fade and original ceramic colours on this wash out which are supposed to mimic those on a new aluminium bezel but fall a mile short. I’m sure Rolex have tried their best but the problem is that ceramic is just not good at holding bright or vibrant colours. I still think the BLNR is hard to beat and is for me still the best contemporary GMT. If you want a Pepsi go for the 16710. It can’t be beat - modern Rolex reliability with the aesthetics of a vintage Pepsi.

And no waiting list!

Yes, it's was the rollout event or whatever they call it at one of the AD's in my neck of 'hood in good ol' 'murica. Lotsa people, excellent hor d'oeuvres, drinks and new Rolex watches.

Sorry, two-tones aren't in my wheelhouse so I only took a cursory glace at it but it was surprising better looking than I thought it would be (this is coming from a ONLY stainless, black and titanium watch guy). The two-tone with the brown really works. The brown, from what I remember was a milk-chocolate color.

Thank you for the kind words! I just wanted to end this color debate (can't we all just get along?) once and for all. I ALMOST took my Pantone color chart and quick reference chips with me but figured that'd be overkill so I just took my BLNR as reference because everyone has seen one by now.

100% agree with you on this. If people really want that bright anodized "race" blue and red, you can't beat the 5-digits. I'm personally OK with the new 126710's colors. It's a completely different material and I'm willing to accept its limits...I mean come on, still first world problems, right? :)

Lofty indeed. Really, you've just confirmed what many of us who've seen the previous WG BLRO in person already knew. The colors are what they are. People will either like them or they won't.

Ahh, thanks. Bummer that you didn't get pics of the CHNRs. Was hoping for something color-accurate since everyone else's pics have varied so much. TT watches aren't in many wheelhouses but the CHNR has quite a few here looking at it with strong curiosity.

thanks nice side by side! I am one of the first in my AD's list for BLRO, but based from that picture, if these 2 watches came out at the same time let's say both are coming out this year, I think the BLNR would hands down be the more favored between the 2. The Pinkish Red and the Purplish blue of the BLRO is odd. The blue of the BLNR is just perfect.

Yes. What you refer to with the colors being "washed out"/subdued versus acute is whats called saturation.

Nice little review.

Btw
Curious what does shining cool blue LED and ~6500k led flashlight supposed to do to the color of the ceramic bezel?

2) The new SuperDuper Jubilee is BLINGY AF (as the kids say). I mean it's over the top disco ball grade bling IMO. It makes the PCL Oyster bracelet seem subdued.
is it more so than a AP RO bracelet? That one is the disco ball. Its not a bad thing either, but maybe that is the best comparison??

I agree and i like them...

but it is light dependent. I tried on a moser with a blue dial the other day. Looks purple in some light. My wife tried on a Patek calatrava with a blue sunburst dial and it looks purple.

Its not unique to rolex, its unique to certain shades of blue.

For reference... blue dial (same watch)
