Icon2 Is this box legit?

Afternoon folks,

I am trying to determine if the attached ebay listing is for a genuine Rolex box?

I have heard even these are faked now.

What do people think?

I have too few posts to post a link.

/itm/Rolex-box-68-00-02-/254977936952?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286

I don’t seem to be able to post any other images due to forum limits…

The box is designated as: 68.00.02

Best,
James

Hi James, It looks fake to me. My 2002 16710 came in a similar box new but I don't remember there being a coronet on the internal cover. Also, it looks like they have used alcantara whereas the original box uses a more rust coloured velour. I hope that helps.

Looks ok, much crisper than the fakes.

I can't confirm the wooden outer box but it looks good and i see the outer box which is a good sign. but I agree the internal cover does not look original without a tactile test.

If it is Alcantara as suggested, it is actually a step up in terms of material but not period correct.

I concur. Maybe the outer is correct? There should also be a fixed angled metal band clad in matching velour in the centre of the box to sit the watch on.

This is the pillow type interior, which came before the c-clip watch holder.

Thanks for the responses.

The ROLEX text spacing looks a little off to me, which is why I asked.

I know there are probably many minor variations on these boxes, but good to get some other opinions.
