I can appreciate some fading for vintage watchs bezels but completly faded bezels don't do it for me.

My 16800 with ghost insert - love the way it changes the entire look of the watch.

Wow, this was an old thread resurrected! Glad to see that faded inserts weren't just a passing fad (har har). I wish I had something to contribute, but for now I will just have to lust after all of the beautiful inserts in this thread

I put it on my 16610 Submariner with the 16800 dial. I can't take my eyes off it. It literally changes colors depending on how the light hits it. It reminds me of a car that I used to have. If you have a faded insert on your watch, lets see it.

Beautiful watches and wow you sure have upgraded in a big way since 2010 Beaumont Cool to see.

Good amount of fade methinks. Might need to rub some SPF50 on it to halt it where it is.

Neither of my inserts can hold a candle to some of those shown here in terms of faded glory. The photo shows my GMT (circa-1969, purchased new in 1971) with the two bezels I currently own, the original fat-font on the left and a 1980 replacement on the right. The original popped off while doing yard work in about 1980 and was replaced. I found it several years later and it has been stored away from sunlight ever since. It's interesting that the original was worn for nine years while the replacement, which shows less fading, has been on the watch for the past 34 years. A watchmaker told me at the time of the replacement that the newer inserts faded less than the old.

Note that color saturation is a bit high in the photo, so the fading is more pronounced in reality. What I've never understood is that inserts seem to fade in different ways--e.g., sometimes the red fades colder (toward blue) and some like mine warmer. Is it variations in the environment or in the materials used?

Among other things, I'm fond of Pepsi inserts that turned into a purple/pink fade along with a deep faded blue.

John you have some sweet inserts. Love how the Tudor insert matches the strap. And that Snowflake insert is simply perfect.

just bought a faded insert - very excited about getting it on my 1680 when it arrives. BUT, was pretty shocked when I found out just how much a faded insert is fetching today - up to $2000 for a MK1 ghost insert
