Keep the 15400OR, wait for fully in house movement for the chrono. Then make the swap, u might get more for your current watch

The 15400 is a boutique edition. ROC subdials take away from the beautiful blue tapisserie dial. The position of the date window and a lack of an in-house movement would bother me. When I think of a royal oak a chronograph is not the first thing that comes to my mind.

For the nominal increase to the ROC, I would consider it. Both are beautiful pieces. Value wise I think that is a good move (dollar for dollar).

However, it depends on personal preference. If you like the classic RO, it would defeat the purpose of trading it away just to get something that is worth more from a dollar standpoint. If your goal is a chrono, then its a no brainer for the ROC. What type of watch are you looking for (as the end goal)?

But then the position of the date is awkwardly inwards on the 400, and the dial is rather wide without the subdials, so I'd pick the ROC. Also the ROC's pushers are cool and uniquely designed, esp now they are push down.

Of these two, I'd do it.

I've had a pretty decent collection over the last few years but never owned a Chronograph. The goal was the 5980r but prices are just too high. Then I fell in love with the ALS 1815 Chrono. And then this opportunity arose. So now I'm considering owning my first chrono!

It seems AP will start producing less Royal Oaks as of late 2018, your 15400 might have a higher price on the pre-owned market.
But i have to say the ROC is higher priced than the 15400 so if you do end up swapping, that's a hell of a good deal.

No chance. With a blue dial, less is more. Keep it simple IMHO

Tough, but I think I like your watch more than the chrono.
