I’m doing a short trip to London and hope to have an evening free to do a quick bit of watch shopping - though it will be late-ish, so I’ll likely only have time to visit one shop.

What do London members suggest? I’m assuming that Harrods will be my best bet, but would be happily corrected on that

To view a lot of watches, book an appointment with Watchfinder near Bond St on Avery Row. To buy, Selfridges and Wempe are near, or Harrods, tho I haven't been to these for many months but imagine stock will be low. Tyler is probably most up to date on stock.

Rg 15400 on leather
Not much
Selfridges has pretty much the same

Wempe has a ROC white/black, a diver, a bunch of gold stuff, and at least 3 ROO 42mm chronographs in SS.... so not bad

Come earlier in the day....

Selfridges, Wempe, WF,AP House (the lounge by appointment), WOS(oxford st but no AP) are all within walking distance.
Go to bond street... you can also check out, Panerai, IWC, Patek salon, JLC, Omega, Rolex, Blancpain boutiques.

I’m likely to have a 1 hour window between 8 and 9pm.

Hardly surprisingly, sounds like the stock situation in London is about the same as HK, so an hour should be enough

harrods then as they will still be open

No one mentioned Arije. When I was there with my watch buddies the manager pulled out some pretty cool stuff from behind the scenes. I have no idea if they open that late.

My understanding is that the watch room at Harrods isn’t fully open yet and AP won’t be occupying there new location for another month.

I'm afraid it doesn't really work like that for understandable reasons, bearing in mind the value of products that will be there. Your best thing is to give AP London a call (0207 659 7300) and see what they say. If you already have a few APs they will likely look upon you favourably.

You all set my expectations very well. I made it to selfridges and Harrods and the experience was, in a word, underwhelming. The AP desk squeezed down a hallway was an unimpressive set up. Still it was a great excuse to break away from the office for a bit!

And Harrods had a JLC duometre spherotourbillion...which was a sight to behold in action!

An underwhelming watch shopping session sadly although it was officially a work trip and back home tomorrow to unwrap my new RM so all is not lost! Sorry to miss the party!

Lighting in Selfridges used to be so bad, I had to use the lume from my watch to see any of theirs.

Unfortunately i didn’t make it to Arije - only made it out of the office after 7pm.

The watch area at Harrods is still under construction, but while it is, the AP and RM with sections feel like market stalls

From what I hear once its done the AP section in Harrods should be quite impressive, but until its finished its unfair to judge. As for Selfridges, that's just simply naff. I'd never buy a watch there if I could possibly avoid it, as I think the buying 'experience' would be quite unpleasant.

Great stuff. I wouldn't worry too much if you don't get an email - as long as they've said yes hopefully you should be on the list and good to go!
