Grey dealers best friend right here. To answer your question, yes imo because you are clearly only buying the watches that have been insanely hyped over the last 3 years and not putting any actual thought of your own into it. To buy 3 of these together at the top of the grey market is asinine imo. But if you are worth millions and dont care then whatever. But i do believe the research, hunt, and appreciation of history combined with what you actually like should be half the hobby, and with that takes a lot of time. Not just buying what you are reading about being hot online

Cause for the money you’re spending you could have this new AP chrono or save up for a perpetual calendar since you seem to be a high roller! With heavy hitters like these, one watch could rule them all!!!

Well frankly speaking if finances allowed, and if given an opportunity, trust me most people would rush to their AD/grey dealer to buy all the watches that’s been on their list from a long time! And you don’t need to prove anyone anything that you are not just into the hype by buying watches that aren’t so hot. You have a navitimer, which is a pretty good watch but not a hot piece, says it enough. Also the OP 39, and Tank Solo are the same, good watches but not hyped. Except Batman I think none are hot pieces.

And purchasing the Hulk asap was a good decision actually. I don’t think the demand and price will stable down anytime soon now! It’s a wise decision to grab one asap if you can and if you really like the watch. I would too if I could. Also certain pieces like the Blue SkyDweller, White face Daytona and the Pepsi are amazing watches which everyone wants and will never be available at ADs and only way to get them without building a good relationship with the AD after buying a few DJs and PM watches, is to go grey. Though I personally wouldn’t go that way because I just can’t make myself pay anything over and above the retail. But hey.. if you can and you really love the watches, why not!

But take a break after you get the hulk. You’ll have some amazing pieces in your collection then. And also because once you start wearing and enjoying them and truly appreciating them, you’ll understand what you actually want to buy next. Sometimes our choices keep on changing. And you don’t want to pay grey and then realise that its not what you really want or enjoy. That would hurt. So better sleep on it for few months.. and then choose. Goodluck and enjoy your watches in good health!

I’m confused with this post. Are suppose to be impressed with the fact you have lots of disposable money to spend? Bro....if you got loot and you want to spend it, why do you care what a bunch of internet people think about whether you’re acquiring slow or fast. Honestly one of the strangest posts I have read on here.

There was a post a couple years back of an AD selling these as a set at market price. It would make more sense if it was a grey but if my memory serves me correctly it was an AD.

I got several within a few months and I never got that "honeymoon phase" with those. The 79220r, 116710LN, OP1500, Benus Military all in the same week (Benrus and OP1500 were Dad's watches he gave to me), followed by the Tudor GMT a few months later. I
wish I'd more time in between just to admire them individually. Some of you will understand this, some will not.

If you’re into the destination and not the journey, go for it. Given your rebuttal of all those who answered your request for opinions with the “wrong answer,” it seems you want to “conquer “ this hobby ASAP, and then likely move on to another hobby. Whatever makes you happy.

It is a stainless steel model, with a silver dial and blue Arabic numerals, making it one of the most understated watches in his collection and mine too!

Been liking this watch more and more recently. Thinking about finding one with the domed bezel. Gorgeous dial.

curious to know whether some on here would think this is the wrong way to go about building a collection.
i bet some people would say part of the enjoyment is taking your time and building slowly.

i just hate wanting something and thinking/researching about it therefore taking my time away from more important things.
so my philosophy is that if i can afford it, then buy it and get on with something more constructive
If you don't mind me asking what do you do for work to afford all the watches at grey prices?

Either OP is baiting us into calling him a liar and later showing us the picture of his "collection" or he is just trolling. Either way... subscribed! LOL

It isn't that outlandish actually...money is quite easy to obtain in certain sectors, so the whole "work" thinking is a bit dated...

Your money, go for it! Tally Ho.

I also bought alot of watches (5) in a few months time which now would be hard to get. If I had crystal ball and had bought some stocks instead that would have been better, but I don't have said ball.

I don't think I agree that they are "iconic". Those models are all from "iconic" families but, with the possible exception of the Daytona, none of them would really be considered "iconic" models.
If you want an icon, you buy a black Sub or a Pepsi. A Speedmaster is a more iconic watch than a BLNR.

In my mind there are maybe 10 watches that can be genuinely considered "icons" and Rolex makes 4 or 5 of them.

Being excited by the current "hype" watches is nothing to be ashamed of. Lots of people are, clearly. They're great watches. No need to dress it up as anything else.

Just buy what you like and enjoy them. It's better than slowly and carefully assembling a collection of safe queens.

I don’t know why so many people are giving this guy stick. It’s your money do what you want with it. I think there’s some jealousy amongst some people.

Buy them all as quick as you can lol I did exactly the same. I worked hard and saved up all my life never really been one for spending. Then I decided F it why not I’m going to go and buy every watch I like. In the last two years all they have done is dramatically increase in price so if it Carry’s on that way you’ll save money in the long run.

Bragging about all these expensive purchases in a short period of time is just lame, especially in these times of Pandemic.
