2018 Santos de Cartier

I tried it on this afternoon and I like it. While it is an impressive watch at 39.8mm x 47.5mm I am not sure my wrist could pull it off.

I’ll think about for a few days and if the urge is strong, I’ll go for it, nonetheless. This is the large size. The medium size feels small at 35.1mm x 41.9mm

Here it is next to my YM.

Thanks for looking.

I’ve been thinking about this one as well. Haven’t had a chance to check it out in person yet.

I’ve tried it on as well but I really dislike the bracelet

Tried it on yesterday. Liked it as well, and felt like it's a solid value, especially since it comes with the extra leather strap that really gives the watch a different feel.

Fast to the market, nice. I'm interested to try the smaller size, which, with the bracelet, square shape and classic Cartier dial, seems plenty big enough.

My wife IM'ed me the other day: "Did you see the new Santos?" I was surprised, as the better half is definitely not into watches. Looks intriguing and I'll try one in flesh! On my wish list at the moment.

Here they are side by side, large (left) and medium (right: no date). Both are nice.

I like the smaller version a lot more. Large watches are not Cartier's strong suit, IMO.

That and there is no date, which is good in my opinion. Never liked the classic Cartier dial with date, I would actually like it without seconds hand as well.

Why did they have to ruin it by putting a date on it? That is whats nice about the smaller one, no date.
I love the look and I have considered the smaller of the two but adding the date on the larger one makes me thing they just plopped an off the shelf movement in there.

I had been waiting on this one but it didn't appeal to me on the wrist when I tried it a few weeks back. Maybe the smaller size would be better but for some reason I only sampled the large.

I was also at Cartier today.

I found the large pretty big on my wrist with the steel bracelet, but nicely proportional on the leather. The medium I found too small.

Seems that when you buy the Steel you only get a choice of the calf straps, if you want alligator you’ll have to pay extra they quoted me 370 euros...you have to use OEM with the quick change strap. The second leather strap will also come with a clasp.

I was considering this as a dress watch, but I don’t think I would buy at RRP maybe second hand in a year or so. What do u think the depreciation would be? I wasn’t overly blown away with the build quality, but it’s a nice design.

As for a dress watch I think I am going to Set my sights on a nice vintage Rolex with a Buckley dial...

I'd say the leather strap is cheap compared to what Rolex charges for a rubber strap.

Tried them on the other day as well. Since I'm partial to No Date, liked the Medium size better. Although the large looked OK as well. I'm surprised how much bigger it looks, though, than your Rolex YM!

Personally, I really liked how the medium fit. Very versatile as well, dress or casual.

I think it's a great choice, and good companion to your YM. I thought the removable bracelet and links was an amazing idea as well.

The medium two tone was a really good fit for my wrists, but its just too pricey!

Glad they brought it back. I have the old version, two tone with the date. Hands were blue as well, very nice in the light. Good thing about this release is the quick change from bracelet to strap which comes with the purchase I believe.

We checked out Cartier this past weekend. I have always liked many of their watches. I found that one too large for my taste. I really like the medium.
