Collections & Reasoning

Anyone else feel like they have a differing opinion of watches than other enthusiasts?

If so, let's see your collection and hear why you chose the watches you did!

Here are my two pieces, a 114200 Olive Dial & 18238 Blue Dial. I have small wrists so I don't find watches over 36mm to be very comfortable. I also prefer colorful dials. I do not feel that my collection is unique, or that anyone else's collection is good or bad. Everyone has their own personal taste that is reflected in their collection, and I would love to see it!

The one on the right I got from my father. The Bluesy was my first Rolex and I bought it new last year simply because I loved how it looked. The DJ41 I got last May and it's my daily, still waiting on my TT Rootbeer. The reasoning? One solid gold, one SS, TT YG, TT RG, all different color dials. Very different watches, each serving a purpose. The DJ41 is understated for work, the Bluesy and Rootbeer are comfy, sporty, and a bit flashy but absolutely beautiful, my dad's watch for mostly family occasions.

I like colour and character.

I pick watches that aren't typically the obvious choices and they usually include coloured dials or dials with character, such as salmon dials or enamel dials for example.

The OP 34mm looks bigger than the DD 36mm.

Very good duo

I just love how Rolex does all colours, but especially, blue.

I feel like my collection covers all bases for me and my lifestyle so no need to sell or buy, but you never know.

Some nice collections in this thread.

One Rolex has to go, I want to keep three watches for better rotation. Still thinking which one can leave the building...

Hm...so it has to be a Rolex that goes? That's going to be tough! I know you just recently got the Bluesy, so would hate to see that one go. I am guessing you want to maintain a SS watch which would mean the DJ would have to go. Now you have one TT and one SS, but they're the same watch. On the other hand, if the SS Sub goes, you have two TT watches, not sure if you consider those daily wear watches or special occasion watches.... tough choice! If it were me, I'd let the Panerai go, just not a big fan of those.

Thanks for your reaction.
I keep the PAM, nice and comfortable "under the radar" watch which I can wear at (mostly) all times.
If I would keep the DJ and the SS SUB I would have a perfect pair. But the Bluesy is also too nice to let go.. .. Or I sell mentioned pair....and keep the PAM and Bluesy (meaning I would keep 2 instead of 3)
This process will take a while....

This - I am close to getting the Daytona white dial in. I have 114060 and have my blue with datejust 41. So I wanted black white and blue as well. I also wanted sub, datejust and Daytona as those are the most iconic and my 3 Rolex favorites. I used to go after sea air and land, but with Rolex current lineup doesn’t fit what I want. I also ordered a Nomos black leather strap, white/silver dial for dress.

First and foremost I would dearly love to have your dilemma, lovely collection.

Okay so one must go but which one. My choice would be to let the SS Sub go. Why?

Well, if you lose the SS Sub then you have 3 very different watches, but each capable of filling a role which is overlapped in places by the Sub.

Most of my watches satisfy one basic criteria; I like them. Included in that are the following: 1) They fit me properly, 2) I find them attractive, 3) they are relatively unique, 4) they work well. Mostly I like Rolex but have decided to not increase that collection beyond three. I've expanded into some other watch brands which may or may not be considered by many on this forum. These include Ball, and now, Grand Seiko. I've rid my self of most of my non Rolex brands so my collection is much reduced.

It has a super chunky case which makes it wear like a 36. Probably my most enjoyable all around watch to wear. Thanks :)
