I had an '87 GN as my first actual car (I had several trucks prior). For it's day, it was a monster & a sleeper to anyone not following cars.
The real sleeper was the GNX; not too many of those around. |

There's at least one up for auction at Mecum next weekend in Anaheim. I'm betting you know the car.

I had a friend that had on in the late 1980's, what a great car. There was a period they could be picked up cheap, but that's over, they have become a very cool collectible car no-a-days

They were THE FASTEST PRODUCTION CAR made up until 1987. The GN ran 4.9 0-60 times and the GNX ran 4.7. They were faster than Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari or Corvette.

At the time, these cars were untouchable, while all the big V8 muscle cars were rumbling with big horsepower, along came this V6 with a turbo that put a lot of cars to shame. That was the attraction of this car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I had a first year production 1984. This was a pre-intercooler car. It was nothing special as far as performance but a really good looking car. I had trouble with people trying to steal it so I sold it off before going to college.

I got a GN. It's an '87 with only 42k miles. It's a rag tho. I found it in a shed. It runs great but needs some interior and body love. It's my new project. I'm a g-body nut! I'll post some pics tomorrow. Glad to see others into GN's!

I raced one down Archer ave back in the 80's, beat it driving my dads 69 Chevelle SS396. The speed limit was, and still is 35mph, ran it up to about 90mph before we had to brake.Young and dumb, but we had fun.
