Help needed in the UK 5167R-001

Hi Guys

I'm new to the Patek side of these forums but have been on the Rolex side for a few years , I own several Rolex but now I've taken an interest in the 5167R-001 Rubber strap model.
My local AD had told me that he can get me one within a month but other than liking the look of this watch I have no idea about it.
The AD told me that there is usually a years waiting list for this watch but after dealing with Rolex Ads for many years I'm not sure I'd believe him.
He also said the steel version had a 3 year waiting list but again I'm not really clued up enough to know if it's part of the sales pitch or not.
So what I'd like to know is ..,

Should I be looking at asking for a discount ?
Is the waiting list really that long for the gold version and are the steel versions even that much longer ?

Regards
Jim

In my experience the 5167r is readily available and at a discount. I’m however in the US and the UK could be different. Steel wait time sounds par for the course in the Uk without a relationship unfortunately.

depending on how many that particular AD gets a 1 year waitlist could mean you are getting the next one or maybe there is one or two people ahead of you. So its less about crazy demand (although there seems to be some of that too) but more about how many an AD gets, which isnt many. In London dont expect a discount, if you are able to get a small one that is a bonus. Cant speak to AD's elsewhere in the country.

Generally there are waiting lists for 5167A but not for R. I was offered one few months ago without even asking. Call around few ADs outside London and you will be able to locate one. With regards to discounts once a store manager told me that it is always possible to negotiate a discount if the piece is available in store.

The SS has a 6 month waiting list at best these days but the RG is more available. I would ask for 10% off, they might bite half way, esp up North. 5164 is a similar price so also consider that but no discount.

I can't comment about the 5617r but i picked up a 5167a back in June and I waited 6 months though I was initially told one year. This was in Cardiff.
