What's going on with this Pelagos chapter ring?

I just sold this Pelagos and upon receipt, the buyer notified me that he saw some issues with the chapter ring. This was one of the photos I took before selling it, and lo-and-behold, when I look closely I see an issue too around the 2-4 and 44-45 minute marks, where it almost seems that the chapter ring is coming away from the sides.

I'm definitely disappointed I missed this before shipping and I need to figure out how to make it right. But, I've come here wondering what the heck happened? Any ideas or insights?

That's interesting. It looks like the dial material (brass?) has "rolled" somewhat at those points. Like turned up slightly. Likely a manufacturing defect.

Does it look like the dial though, the chapter ring, or something else? Here's the chapter ring in a Pelgaos close up

I'm trying to understand how something like this happens, and if it's a manufacturer defect, how I went so long without noticing. Could something like this have happened during a service?
