Why no love for the black-dial Deepsea?

A great watch but if one has the wrist to pull it (I do) then the James Cameron version for the unique dial would be the choice! Especially with the SD43 and subC black dials that are way more popular yet similar looking dial

I love blue, the standard black/stainless look isn't for me. But it's clearly popular with others.

When I was buying my Daytona, I saw the D-blue and not going to lie, I almost wanted it as much as my Daytona. It actually looks incredible in person and the blue really differentiates it from the rest. That will be next on my list!

It is an amazing watch! I got so much used to it that it occupies more than half my wrist time. And surely i have many options to wear. It so much changed my perception that now i feel almost anything less than 42 mm as not wearble and looking small. And my wrist is 6.5, i wouldn’t say big, right? It is a buddy i won’t split with. I have it for already more than 10 years now, have it serviced a year ago just because I felt guilty. Before service and after that it usually falls behind 3 to 4 seconds per week!

Liked it, but love the D-Blue.
The dial is unique, and beautiful.

At the end of the day, Rolex make these watches for a purpose - Diving.

The fact we decide to wear them as a fashion accessory is irrelevant to them.

All the text etc is just how it is...you either accept it for what it is or move on to something else.

No one ever forced anyone to buy a DSSD.

The DS black or blue was engineered to extreme depth. The purpose of the watch was to show rolex has the savvy to make such a watch. One percent of percent of diverers need that depth rating. But its there if need be. I never seen an advertizment showing a DS being used other than under water exploration. Not being worn with a tuxedo !

I prefer the black and that was my preference when purchasing(both great watches though-Id never diss the blue dial)

Funnily enough I actually disliked the model when it was first released - it’s taken a long time for me to change my mind.

Add another vote for the black dial. I think the matte black dial looks much cooler and more tool like especially in direct sunlight where you can really admire it. The Cameron dial has never really done it for me on the DSSD. It’s like putting a sunburst dial on an Explorer. No thanks.

Also, you see far fewer black dials for sale on the secondary market that you would think the black dial is the limited edition.

I agree, not sure why James Cameron got the endorsement for the D-Blue. He was basically a passenger in the deep sea vehicle. I know it's probably the Titanic thing, but there must be more deserving people. Celebrity endorsements often fall flat with me as do all the endless award shows these days. Give credit to the unsung heroes I say. Anyways both are very nice and a matter of taste. I'd probably go black though. Cheers!

Endorsement for the D-blue???
The last time i looked there was no hint of any endorsements of any kind associated with what he did.
Perhaps you haven't actually seen the movie to understand the extent of the achievement and the level of risk from a personal perspective and the technicalities which had to be overcome by the whole team.
It was something that hadn't ever been done since 1960 by only two other people on the planet.

I understand it's probably not as sexy to some as going into space. But really. He was just a passenger????
You make it sound as though it all was as easy and as simple as s**ting in bed and kicking it out with your feet.

Please share with us how you would've gone about it then?

Lol, I'm not convinced you are informed on what exactly James Cameron did and how Rolex got involved. Fyi, the D-Blue watch had nothing to do with it. More humans have been to space than to the depth James Cameron went, that should say something.

It’s a great piece. It was actually my first ever Rolex. I passed mine on when I got the SD43 but I am absolutely looking to get the 126660 James Cameron as soon as my number comes up. I think the SD43 and DSSD blue make a great pair
