Dressing down a Datejust II
I have a silver stick dial DJ2 with white gold bezel they never gets any wrist time. I picked the most modest dial but still feel it's too dressy for most occasions, especially work. The pcls + gold bezel + 41mm combo make it too flashy imo. It's only been worn to 3 weddings.
Anyone dress down their dj2s with leather or rubber straps or have other bracelet that you would recommend? |

Dressy, or not dressy, is simply a state of mind. Do not take it out on an innocent DJII bracelet

I agree with Tom - it can be worn as is. However, I do understand where you are coming from, and it's reasonable. I chose the smooth bezel and oyster bracelet to give my watch a touch less dressiness and more modern / sporty look. I've seen older vintage DJ's on leather bands look very nice. It's hard to say whether this dresses them down much though. I'd recommend you bite the bullet and just wear it with shorts & polo/t-shirt. Many have said of 36mm that they may look small at first if you are accustomed to wearing larger diameters... but after a day or two it looks completely normal. I suspect the same if you'd just dare to wear your DJ2 with casual clothes a few days in a row - you may realize that it actually is a sports watch and actually does casual in a stylish way (style not dressy).

I think you know deep down the answer to your delema.....trade it or sell it and get one that your really love....it's a lot of cash for a watch that your heart isn't completely into.

That's a great way to look at it.
If I had a DJ, I'd wear it as it comes. No need to 'dial it' down.

I have a DJ 36mm, white dial, stick markers, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. I wear it everywhere. To the office, to court (I'm an attorney), to the pool and to the beach. I've worn it with everything from a suit to shorts.
