Thunderbird chronograph date just

Just had my watches appraised last week. Great thing about Rolex is ever watch has a story and you are always learning new things. I did not realize my date just thunderbird with chronograph two tone gold and steal was unique. This watch was discontinued in 2011. Apparently it was the first pilot watch.

Is this watch vintage? I am assuming with good sales of the newer day just this watch probably will not be reissued. I guess I should on to it.

Responses are welcomed as always.
