Houston, we have a problem..
Now I have an issue..
I recently put myself on a waitlist for a white Daytona 500, but yesterday I ran into a friend on a street food fest and he was wearing a Yachtmaster 116655 and boy, I have fallen in love. I can't get that watch out my head now, so I ask the TRF, what to do? Daytona or Pull some extra cash for 116655. Btw, this will be my only watch.

In the DR? hmmm. Tough call. I would have said to someone within the US to buy a preowned YM from a trusted seller (let someone else take the initial hit), enjoy your new YM while you wait out the Daytona. It could be a long time to wait. When you eventually have both in hand you can decided which you want more.
If the daytona wins, sell the YM and since you bought pre-owned you're not taking such a hit. If the YM wins, flip the Daytona for some profit and you have a $12k watch that paid for a good majority of your $20k watch. Down in the DR though, I'm not sure what your best play is. Maybe a quick trip to Fl to meet up with DavidSW? |

On the plus side, you have 3 years to decide.

Get the YM, stay on the list, make decision when you get the call for the DaytonaC is another option.

I wouldn't do anything straight away. Likelihood is the Daytona won't be turning up anytime soon and the YM will be available for quite a while yet.
See if you still love the YM is several weeks or a few months time. See if your initial eagerness dissipates first. If it doesn't you can get it easily and still stay on the list for the Daytona. I would sooner have the YM tbh, I am one of the few who doesn't see the fascination with the Daytona. It all looks a bit cramped on that dial for my liking. |
