If Rolex would bring this one out the hype would shift to this watch and people wouldn't even care about having a white/black Daytona anymore.

The mock-up looks nice. I’d order one.

Yeah...I’d buy this in about a heartbeat (though I do like the OF band)

Great mod and thanks for sharing its great to see - it definitely gives a more luxury look to the watch like a WG model and less sporty as per standard SS.

I wish Rolex made this. Unfortunately you need to change a classic to get there. Thanks for posting pics. Rolex! Are you listening!?!?

OP, how are you feeling about the silver/steel dial after a few days in? Do you miss the white at all?

Do you feel that steel dial isn’t better suited with the black framing of the oyster flex bracelet or do you feel on the wrist that this is still the best combo of all?

I feel quite happy with the outcome..I always felt the silver sunburst dial looked better on a metal bracelet. The Oysterflex bracelet could use a bit more texture a la Aquanaut. Oysterflex was what always stopped me from buying the 116519.

If anything my gripe is that I had to do the swap myself, i don't like modifying my Rolex watches. The white dial is nice, but the contrast of white and black was too much for me. So no regrets. I'm happy.:)

(Sorry i haven't replied to all the personal messages asking about how to source the dial, where to go, etc. There are so many messages and i cannot answer them all. Honestly i just found the right people at the right time. The dial itself is very hard to come by, i am surprised myself i found one..)

Well done! Top notch mod! If Rolex actually embraced its heritage, it would listen to its customers and produce a silver dialed Daytona. An update to the classic 6263 would most certainly be a hit.

Oh... Solid sub-dials and brushed center links are the way to go, please bring them both back on the SS model.

Best mod I have ever seen. Seriously.

It just works.

Congrats, this is likely one of a kind. I would have done it in a heartbeat. Enjoy the heck out of it.

i hope every Basel that Rolex does what Omega did for their 60th anniversary with the Trilogy and release a proper 6263 reissue with a thin ceramic bezel, updated movement, and domed sapphire crystal. it will never happen but i would gladly hand over WG Daytona money for it.

I was never a fan of the Daytona, but the white dial ceramic model has piqued my interest. Legibility was always a concern, and that silver dial looks highly legible. And very sharp!

The good thing is that this decision is a two way door. You can always easily switch back at your leisure or when you want to sell etc. Enjoy it!

It looks so much better.

I've been wanting to do this for the longest time myself, I just haven't been able to secure the 116509 dial yet.

So good, I wonder if brushed centre links might finish it off perfectly? Like the classic model posted above!

Maybe someone can do a little photoshop work?
I think it could be the perfect finishing.
