My 5 year-old son and I are in the Omega boutique in Haneda airport. The saleswoman asks him if he likes the watches, his response, “Rolex ga arimasu ka.”

Translation: “Got any Rolex?”

My kids tell me there are kids at their school that draw Rolexes on their wrists with pens. My kids seemed to think they were unobtainable treasures. When I informed them I have two Rolex they were impressed, but also realized the inclination to draw one on their wrist is stupid. And it is.

Do our kids go to the same school? My son’s classmates claim they’re gettin’ c-notes from the tooth fairy!

My kids don’t think much of luxury watches, or any watches really. But they are aware of Rolex as a quality and expensive brand. So, I’ve done Rolex’s marketing for them!

My 6-year-old told me I should “flip” bluesy for the 116619lb cause he “likes the all gold one better.” He also hate my Explorer II but loves the JLC. I think he’s gonna be a WIS

My 8 year old got real interested. Came with me to our AD. First thing he said was “they have a pepsi” while pointing at a WG GMT pepsi. Store keepers eyes got real big. We have a great AD. They let him try on the solid gold hardware!

Only the youngest (49 years old) of our 3 kids has any interest in Rolex watches and he owns a DJ2 (which pairs well with his Porsche). Our other kids think expensive watches and expensive cars are ridiculous wastes of money.

My son loves watches and pens like I do. He was with me yesterday when I picked up my new GMT and loved looking at all the “cool” watches as he says. So I told him that when he graduates high school he can have my Tag Aquaracer that I bought when he was born. Then when he graduates college he can choose either my Explorer II or my new GMT. Or any other that I get between now and the next 12 years.

My kids are 20, 18, and 11. The oldest two looked up Daytonas on the internet and saw how much they are selling for and give me crap for it all the time. My 12 yr old is always making Rolex comments trying to embarrass me. None show much interest in watches though.....

My youngest seems to like my AP diver.

When I visited the Rolex AD with my elder child, I asked which models he liked and his reply was “the yellow ones” - so I don’t think Rolex will catch his attention for a couple of years unless I pick up a YG sub.

3 older ones 13, 11, 10 think it's really 'sad' to have a watch that needs winding. 3 year old is obsessed with them. Loves my Panerai most as it has exhibition back and he can see it move!

My son has a Datejust SS/WG we bought him for HS graduation in the early 2000s. He still wears it most days but also has an Apple watch. Our daughter has my father's 1960 Oyster TT that she wears occasionally but she just ordered a Series 4 Apple watch as well. She's very exercise conscious so she is anxious to upgrade from her Garmin step counter.
They both know he'll end up with my few and she will get her mom's PP AC.
Neither has what I would call an interest in the hobby but both like nice things.

Growing up my two sons appreciated my watches . There first two major purchases were older son /stainless sub younger son/ pepsi GMT. I am delighted to have passed on my love of watches to my boys.

My son loves them at 10 years old!

My older daughters appreciate them, too, the design and evolution of the sport models.

My 3 year old genuinely likes my watches. She loves lining them up in some sort of order. Loves putting her ear up to them and listening to the movement. Loves seeing my petrified reaction when she throws them around.
In fact she asked me to buy her a watch few months ago when out shopping. I did. We decided on a pink princess watch. I’ll make sure to post a pic sometime soon!!!....

My 17 year old daughter (high school senior) claimed my BLNR a couple of years ago. I had it serviced and have not worn it since. Now I'm just trying to decide the right time to give it to her. I'm leaning towards college graduation. 4 and a half years to go.

I gave my daughter her grandmother's 35 yr old Ladies-Date (I bought it new in Europe) after having it overhauled and a new bezel put on. It was stolen within a year. We gave our 13 yr old grandson a $15 Casio to wear to school. It got lost somewhere and he never missed it. I think I am detecting a trend.

My son says watches are outdated and he has no use for one. I think he would sell mine the day he inherits them.

My daughters (6 and 9) both love mine. They also love spotting other Rolex in the wild. I’ll feel a tug on my hand and get a whisper “Daddy did you see that Daytona?”. Very proud!

My thirteen year-old is the only fan of my watch collection. She longs for the day to wear my Sub and Day-Date. As for the rest, I don’t know what will happen to them if I go suddenly. My wife my sell my Pateks in a garage sale for ten dollars each - I worry....

My daughter couldn't have cared less about my watches until she heard the lyric "rollie on my wrist" during one of her songs for dance. She asked me after her practice if that meant Rolex.....and my coolness factor jumped from 1 to 2 on the "0-10 Coolness Meter" in her eyes.

How old is your son? There is time for it to change, once children get older and develop their own sense of style and want to dress better... Plus for men it's really one of the only forms of jewellery that is isn't tacky / overkill. Wedding rings not included.
