To be honest, it does gets a bit tiring to have to work to convince PP ( or for that matter to a lesser extend, AP and Rolex as well ) that I am worthy to be allocated a desirable new reference. Among the long list of criteria,

1) I am a serious collector
2) I swear I won't flip
3) I have to maintain a relationship with the AD / Boutique or Salon
4) Continue to buy in order to keep up with (3) because there is no relationship without $$$
5) Pray that someone with bigger buying power don't kick me down the queue

I already have more watches than I can wear and it's bordering on insanity to add more without first letting some go but the process of selling is also tedious and tiring, trying to find the right buyer for the right price and worse, I may end up regretting what I sold.

Maybe I just be happy with what I already have for a change. It's a hobby, not work.

It actually makes my life a lot easier having zero clout with Patek as I just don't need to worry about joining any waiting lists, begging, chasing etc.. The only one I have ordered in recent years they decided to terminate my dealer before delivery so another example of legendary Patek customer service. Don't even get me started on service times or the fact that my strap order (from the catalogue, nothing bespoke) still hasn't been filled after 7 months!!

Life is simply too short. With AP it is very simple: "which ones do you want? Ok, you can have this, this and this, but this one we would like you to wait until next year if you don't mind and this one will be very difficult - please call the boss directly."

Yeah, but then you have a lot of clout with AP so make's it easier. From posts here, most have a hard time even getting a 15400 blue Royal Oak SS. Or being laughed at when they dare to ask for for a Jumbo. Even I have to jump through hoops just to get allocated a 15407ST. But I supposed all is fair in the end as it's just AP prioritizing based on spending record.

Trying to be funny, I just asked for for a grail piece, the Nautilus 5740G Perpetual calendar. As expected, my sales contact have re-acted with shock and silence. LOL

I would like to see a PC with movement and layout of the 5320 but in 38mm instead of 40mm and not riding the retro trend but with a more classic and timeless design, more like the 3448 and 3450, or, for simplicity, let's say a 5296 as PC.

Probably just me and too boring for many so it won't happen as it might not sell...

I too find AP very straightforward. Easy to deal with and straight talking. Just as anyone of us would want.

Patek is more of a struggle but I know two dealers who are WYSIWYG so are good to deal with.

Rolex I honestly find to be the worst. Dealers generally are a nightmare.

Conkers - how can you have zero clout with PP??? On your Instagram you have a number of Pateks. If that genuinely is the case, then there is no hope for someone like me......

Back to this thread topic, I hope to see a Perpetual Calendar version of the 5205, ie with three logical apertures. That's imo, the best and most efficient to tell the day/date/month at one glance. No micro sub-dials to squint your eyes at. And preferably with instant day/date/month jump. Strangely, PP has not implemented this, except in the grand complication 5207/5208.

Agree that the subdial style on the 5740G PC is abit cluttered and difficult to read, and I really like the 3 window style that can be found on the 5205/5960 (they are AC)

This is coming. When nobody knows but the 5320G is sought after only because so few are released. A more traditional model would truly be in demand of its own right not just because of artificially created market shortages.

You're describing how Patek works if you build a strong relationship with an AD.

I would go ape**** if PP rolled out a 5990/1a with a new dial with a big date in place of the round date pointer subdial. Never gonna happen,,,,,I know.

They have told me that they prefer people who build a relationship with only one AD and that if I continued to buy from multiple dealers around the world I would be highly unlikely to be prioritised for special pieces.

I tried that for several years and absolutely not in my experience. Now I buy from whichever AD has the watch I want in stock.

How about 5711 with salmon dial? Following the trend now.

Patek does not need to put a pink dial on a 5711 to move it

That is double standards by Patek. Big collectors usually by from multiple dealers and even people with a relatively a modest collection (compared to yours) buy from more than one dealer and they are not getting penalised.

I second that Ben. and it will be like salmon dial royal oak jumbo. People like to see more salmon dial on their favorite reference.
