An amazing finish indeed, my favorite.
Lovely example @Kostas, @MiamiClay I’m always impressed with your presidential knowledge and collection, and a lovely example @baumare.
Here is mine, a 1986 18078.

Wow, another 18249, nice!
They seem quite scarce - I think yours is the first one I’ve seen with Romans.

The Tapestry with bark is also a good look - I’m gonna need a Tapestry one of these days.

All spectacular pieces, gents. My regular WG 1803 feels inadequate now.

To assist in your hunt, a few small things —

First, the numbering for the later WG/bark DDs is a little wonky. I don’t recall offhand about 4-digits, but they would be designated just as 1807s (or 1807/9s) until ~1977. From ‘77-‘88 the single quicksets are 18079s, as you’d expect. From ‘88-‘99, however, instead of following the ordinary pattern and designating the double quicksets as 18279s, the WG/bark models are 18249s (or 18248s in YG).

Before (or with?) the 1824Xs in ‘88, they switched from all-bark bezels to the ones like below, with the “flats” as hour markers on the bezel - I’m not sure when that change happened.

Be sure any WG/bark bracelet is large enough for you, because finding extra links for it would be very difficult ... approaching impossible.

Good luck, happy hunting!

Victor/nocaps, I agree with the consensus - We need some more pictures of that lovely hen’s tooth!

This. You ain't getting extra WG bark links. Forget about it.

Took me months to find even a couple of non-bark WG links for mine. And the stretch in any links you do manage to source will be different, so even if passable, they won't quite match.

That said, I wonder if the RSC would provide bark links...

So cool to see it in WG, it looks really “icy”...it didn’t strike my until now that the bark DD:s don’t have any polish surfaces...maybe that’s what makes it extra cool...

It’s been mentioned that bark finish was more difficult to manufacture therefore discontinued. Does anyone know what the manufacturing process consisted of ?

Thank you

beautiful watch! I'm on the hunt now for a bark birth year watch (1986). I wear my grandfather's wedding ring as my wedding ring which also interestingly has a nice bark finish so it feels right. Hardly see any of these in the flesh so it's nice to see such wonderful pictures!

The WG 1807 is a beast. The bark bezel really makes it pop. This dial looks later, though - wouldn't it be a pie-pan without the second markers?

Anyway, try finding a bracelet for it...

I think it is a pie pan, look at the slight shadow just under 4-8. (Besides, I don’t believe 5-digit dials will fit in these.)

Good eye - I think you're right. I've never seen a pie pan with this style of second markers, though... Maybe just a gap in my knowledge, of which there are many.
