If you’re diving right you’re not really mucking about in the sand.

Keep it in pristine condition so that the next owner can wear the hell out of it!

I have a G shock for gym and biking, patek for office, sea dweller for everything else and AP offshore to remind me never to buy that brand again. First day the crown came close, sharp bezel got chipped and cost me 2k Singapore dollars to fix it.

I say wear but if your are in salt water with it. Then soak it for a few minutes in fresh water when you get back to your room/house.

I don't wear my Rolexes in the ocean anymore. I just don't like the idea of if it was to somehow come off I wouldn't be able to find it. Also don't want to be worrying about my watch. Went with a G-Shock for the beach and it has put my mind at ease. I realize the chance of my Swiss watches coming off my wrist are miniscule but I still prefer to avoid the possibility and just wear a beater to the beach usually. If I'm not going in the water that day I usually wear my Rolex no problem.

To OP: I hope that in the last 18+ months after you posted this thread you had chances to use your mint 16600 on the seaside and in several other situations that allow your watch to be a normal pre-owned piece.
To get a gorgeous watch and to use a PMW to go to the seaside, is like to have a model as a wife and go to the seaside with Ugly Betty.

Get a beater Rolex. Sea Dwellers and salt water don't mix.

I don't wear my rolex to the beach because I play in the sand a lot with my kids, and I am a bit worried about sand getting into the crown, even if screwed down.
With a proper water pressure test from your local watchnaker for a rolex more than 10 years old, water poses no threat whatsoever (as long as crown is screwed in).

A sea dweller definitely belongs in the sea... wear it at the beach, it's just sand!

I've brought a BLNR to play in the sand before... it did just fine:

You have a Sea Dweller and want to know if you should wear it on the beach? Yikes.

Better be careful wearing a watch that is only 1200m WR at the beach!

Do you plan on grinding it in the sand? Otherwise it will be fine.
It's kind of hard to escape the sand when you're at the beach, is it not?

is it just me or does nobody on the forum understand these things arent really watches anymore, theyre collectable assets that appreciate and are resold and condition matters.

There may not be a lot of mint condition 16610s out there and if he wears it then it will affect the overall value when it comes to sell. Its like saying you dont care about money when you just tell him to "enjoy life" and wear the watch like its a no brainer. Maybe he cares more about the value of the watch and selling it one day than wearing it to the beach where he will worry about it getting scratched or stolen, I am guessing thats the case so OP no wrong answer here, but I would wear a beater and if something nicer then Tudor.

I usually wear my Garmin running watch to the beach. Wore the Sub a couple times but got sand in the clasp and between the links. I don’t baby my watches but don’t really want scratches from essentially sandpaper for no reason.

Wear it! Just give it a good wash in warm soapy water when you're done.

Use it! Enjoy it! Be the best “dressed” man on your beach!
If you want, get yourself a dress watch (maybe a PP) and treat that as a “Princess”
