GMT Depth Ratings.

Anyone know, what exactly, has been changed, in some (newer) GMT models, so that some are rated at 100 Metres and others at 300 Metres?
See: 126719 - 100 Mtrs
116719 - 300 Mtrs
At least, according to a certain watch finder.

No GMT master is rated to 300m. They may have mis-stated feet. Or perhaps the seller believes it should be rated to 300m, which honestly it likely could do 300m of static pressure. Officially though 300m is reserved for divers watches.

Agreed with breitlings. The new GMT-Master II's are still rated to 100m.

Got sent an email by Goldsmith about an Oris bronze diver.... rated to 100m

I’m pretty sure the gmt would be the best bet diving though!

Rolex policy is only their diver watches is waterproof 300 meters or more even if other sports models is good for 300 meters too.

It's actually a very complicated question but I'll sketch it out.

With a basic SCUBA certification a beginning diver is cleared to 60 feet. A few more courses and around 120 feet. 130 feet is considered the safe limit for recreational diving breathing compressed surface air. And that is where things get complicated. Quite a few people have been past 400 feet on air. I have briefly been to 330 feet on air but that was with quite a bit of training, redundant everything/yada. Commercial divers have worked at depths of 2000 feet breathing special gas mixes that help prevent various problems when oxygen and nitrogen are present in too high a concentration (because the density of the gas we breathe increases proportionally with depth. So at 33ft/+1atm you are breathing twice as many air molecules per breath than you do at the surface)

You’re right on the GMT Master 1. 50m/165 ft with Twinlock crown and oyster case. Vintage advertising never specified and used the inaccurate term “waterproof”.
