Service needed with that timegrapher results?

IMG_9476.jpgIMG_9477.jpg

Hi guys,

My wife’s 15200 has a very erratic reading on the timegrapher, it however does not run very bad over the day. Is it time for a service looking at the two positions up and top down?

Regards
Torsten

Either time for service or the last service wasn't done well.

Thanks! I am in Europe, so sending in to the states makes no sense.

What about that one, a DJ 16030, the other in my collection that does not 100 smoothly:

Same positions as above...

Your input is highly appreciated!

Do you have your timegrapher set up on a heavy solid surface?

I had really weird results like these photos when I was lazy and just look readings while it was sitting on carpeted floor.

Then I put the setup onto a solid granite kitchen counter and the same watch settled down and read completely different.

Just an observation
:-)

Thanks for the tip. I was doing the tests with the timegrapher being positioned on a wooden sideboard. I will try tomorrow on a freakin solid plate, see if it’s going to be different...

but I did not think that this could be an important thing;-)

Best error is best measured with the movement outside of the case to reduce resonance of sound which can mess up the readings.

And yes, that second set of pictures has a way too low amplitude, service is most likely needed.

Thanks for your recommendation. However I am NOT gonna open my watches, that I leave to the watchmaker. But even as a layman, the timegrapher can give you at least some indication, whether it is time to take care of your watch...

So again, my thanks to all of you!

Is that a weishi timegrapher? From my experience they're not calibrated correctly. I bought it to use at home and a lot of times the beat error wouldn't be picked up correctly. When I checked the same watches at work the beat error was correct.

Yes it is, and of course I am aware, this is no real watch technician tool. However I tested my other 16 watches and got good readings on the BE, only the one really was giving weird readings

As you’re in Europe, and if you choose to service it, why not the Geneva works?

I want a tapestry slate dial with tritium in there (so swapping the dial), and fortunately I found an expert Rolex watchmaker, where the 16030 is currently being worked on...
