Above the crown is a tight spot, its probably polishing rouge that didnt get wiped off.

Oxidation?

Did you check out the link? What do you think of the watch?

I dont think its oxidation. Oxidation usually shows up looking like a rainbow on the gold.

Looks ok to me, I love the dial

Thanks for confirming that - it was my first suspicion. And I agree with your decision to pass on buying it for many reasons.

You may pay a bit more for an all original 18078, but you will never have any nagging doubts.

No pic of box but seller said he’ll send one next week.

Also in a few of the pics I’ve noticed some grime/stain beside the crown. I’ve attached the pic. Any idea what it is? Something to be concerned with?

Wow I didn’t see this new target acquisition while posting my other comment.

Anytime I see an anomaly I become concerned. So maybe being abundantly cautious - but I would ask a detailed question: what are the marks on the watch that I see in your pictures?

And ask for more pictures with the marks all gone if he says it’s just a smudge.

Now my other question is whether you’ll be satisfied owning it when you had been seeking an 18078 earlier? Nothing worse than buyer’s remorse once you’ve acquired this 18238.

Yes hopefully it’s just polish residue. I’ll definitely be asking him to confirm & send more pics. The dealer is Italian and communicating with him on WhatsApp can be a little difficult & seems to be a bit blunt. Maybe it’s just a language barrier.

I’ve seen pics of both bark and fluted bezel on black tapestry dial and it looks superb on the fluted, much nicer than the bark. In fact it doesn’t look quite right on bark bezel & bracelet for some reason. See some pics I found on Insta.

I just love the black tapestry dial so much and like the fact that it’s in Italian aswell.

Luckily did a search here under sellers name.

Won’t be buying after reading this! Bullet dodged

The search continues.....

Guys can you tell me if all 18238 should have hidden clasp bracelets? I’m asking because I’m currently looking at this 1989 18238 but it has a regular folding clasp with buckle which isn’t hidden.

https://www.chrono24.com/rolex/day-d...id10622966.htm

Sellers says that it’s the original bracelet for the watch and that this model had 2 different clasps - one hidden and other not.

Can you confirm this is true because I haven’t come across any like this where the buckle is visible.

Thanks

Keep on looking ....Both watches over priced,
first one is a “Frank” watch....will hurt the future value
The Second watch the Price he is asking should have been new old stock.

I sold last week a single quick unpolished like new $10500
I sold also last week ...bark finish double quick ...new old stock 15500
Free shipping

My Cost 9700 and 14.000...plus shipping costs 400 for both watches
...that should give you an idea what is going on price wise
...you too can get these deals.

Cheers Anastasios.

Do you still have the 18249 for sale? Be interested in that too.
