FS: Early 1970’s Heuer chronograph Ref. 73473 S; SN 244xxx
Price: $2500 net to me
Details Dial: Attractive silver “panda” dial with charcoal gray registers and Tachymeter ring. Swiss text above date window. Eye-catching red chrono hand. Intact lume dots on the hour markers and matching lume on the “sword” handset--very nice patina. White date wheel. Case: Stainless steel case is in good condition and shows signs of wear indicative of its age. Some scuffs, scratches and small indentations are visible. Brushed texture is still present (unfortunately many of these Heuer chronographs had their original finish texture polished to a shiny, mirror-like quality). Edges remain sharp. 38 x 42mm diameter. Reference and serial numbers are well defined. Movement: Valjoux cal. 7734 manual-wind, date. Crystal / Crown: Original acrylic crystal. Unsigned crown (how it left the factory). Bracelet: Heuer signed stainless steel bracelet. Accessories: None Condition: I am offering this Heuer chronograph in as-is condition. The definition of a barn find, this 73473 S should be serviced upon purchase. Watch winds and keeps time but is off approximately 13 seconds per day. The movement is extremely dry. Chrono is fully functional and re-sets to 12:00. Handset is free of corrosion. Dial is nearly perfect. Original crystal shows scuffs and scratches. A sensitive case refinishing could be undertaken, if so desired. Notes: The original owner of this Heuer 73473 S was an avid motorcyclist and gearhead. He wore it during the 70s and 80s as intended, as a tool watch. To be a daily wearer again this very cool, very rare and downright enigmatic chronograph (why wasn’t it ever given a proper name!?) just needs a little TLC. Terms and conditions of sale: Three-day return policy if the timepiece purchased is not the one pictured, or as described. A returned timepiece will be scrutinized in detail to make sure no parts have been altered or damaged in any way. Buyer is responsible for the cost of postage and insurance of any returned item. All international sales are final -- No Exceptions. Outgoing shipments are packaged carefully and sent fully insured via USPS or FedEx (with Parcel Pro). If your package is lost or stolen, a refund will be issued after the insurance claim has been approved. A face-to-face transaction is possible if you live in or are visiting Southern California (Los Angeles). Accepted forms of payment are wire transfer, check/money order, or cash if making a transaction in person. No items will be sent prior to the receipt and clearance of funds. Bank wire instructions will be given to the buyer upon confirmation of a purchase. |
