Questions on Pre-printed names and date warranty card

Hi all,

I have recently came over a piece of submariner with pre-printed names and date on the warranty card in stead of hand written.
Is this normal as most of the time I do only see the names and dates are hand written.

I have read other posts where someone has purchased a watch at an AD and the AD used a printer/machine to add the buyer's name and purchase date. I've never had that happen though.

It would be nice if ADs had a printer for the cards.

The handwriting on one of my cards was not so good and it bothered me for some silly reason.

Purchased two last couple of weeks and the AD had a fancy Rolex printer for the cards. Kinda cool.

My AD actually hands me a special pen to write my own name as a signature.

Recent purchases have all been printed. AD told me Rolex required it after they scan the warranty card

I wish my AD had a printer like that (looks neat and professional). Some sales associates have children's writing and butcher up the name and date on the warranty cards (not that it matters but I'm OCD - luckily mine have remained blank or have my name).

I'm thinking printed will be possibly easier to fake/stick over/dissolve the ink, make blank to scam people... Dunno.

That would dissolve the area they're printing on as well.

They do that in Japan which makes it look clean and professional.

I had AD ask me to fill in my own card, and I have terrible writing.

Not necessarily. The background is I believe laminated.

And it's probably a different kind of ink.
(I do own a print shop btw. I'm not just trying to argue lol)

I suppose they can do the same with hand written stuff...

But, if I’m not wrong, the warranty card is electronic, isn’t it? So, it means that it doesn’t matter if you delete the hand written name on it because it works as a electronic card...

Technically it doesn't matter what name is on the card, but I have no clue what a destroyed card that still scans can do.

Up until 6 months ago one the largest Rolex AD in NYC hand wrote warranty cards. They now use the printer

What difference do it make whether printed or written, as long as its been scanned by any AD the warranty is valid.

Normal in Japan. The purchaser is required to fill up a warranty registration form by hand and then the AD will send the completed form to Rolex Japan where the warranty card will be printed with the purchaser's name. The warranty card will then be sent back to the AD for the purchaser to collect or to be sent to his/her address.

to have names pre printed? with a printer or to make sure the space that says "name" has something written on it, pen or printer is the new standard?

All my watches are always done with a pen and they have always put my name on the cards. Bought a watch this week from a major AD (so its no small mom and pop AD) and my name was put there with a pen

Biggest AD chain in the UK buy a mile and they dont have a printer.

It doesn’t make a difference.

It was statement of fact that I was highlighting to OP that warranty cards can be written and printed even from same AD
