I tried the Sub C on again today, and I have to say, in the flesh, so to speak, it's a beautiful looking watch, and the sales guy said, after a week you won't notice that and get used to it, after I commented that it's just a bit too boxy on me. I love the look of it, but not when its on my wrist,...
Went into 2 Rolex dealers today, and worth pointing out they both made comment about how much they liked my black Ltd Edition Liquid Metal Planet Ocean when I took it off. Is that trying to tell me something? Nah.. still want the Sub! But can safely say that as wonderful as that watch looks, and it does, I do think the previous model will suit better. One thing you guys can answer is.... I've always read people saying they wish the Rolex had the AR coating the PO does, but this guy said to me today that the Sub does have AR on it? True? or... ? |

It is just the cyclops that is AR coated. Nothing else.

Don't trust an AD. They just want a sale. They will tell you anything. Get your info from here before you make your decision. AD's in general have little knowledge believe it or not.

if you removed the cyclops you would see the a/r section on the underside of the crystal.

Hey John, 16610 is looking like a favourite, and it's a great shame they didn't utilise more of that tapered shape in the new one. |

it would be helpfull to see a side by side comparison pic containing the 16610 and the 16610lv. i would think that the trusted sellers on here would be able to source you a bnib. the a/r cyclops is on the g and random serial. possibly on the later v serial as well.

Dream watches (Portsmouth) have a 2007 16610 reference 'like new' for sale at a reasonable price. Give Dane a call. When they state like new, it will be immaculate.

Same watch (my 16610 LV) with both the black & green inserts. I sold my 116610 Sub C for most of the reasons stated in the OP and bought this last September. I'm very happy that I did!
Here is that thread - some good related points (pro & con) by all the folks that weighed in. This may help you decide. https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=254616 ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363917553.726587.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363917565.701855.jpg |

Thanks.. Confusing stuff. It was a little more fathomable between current and previous model, but now it's previous v LV!

Both look great, but I'm always drawn to the black. Huge waiting list, apparently according to a local dealer who says he has 25 people on a list waiting for the new black 'C', but I saw 2 in a dealer not a mile from him! 'Want to join the list' he says to me, .... I don't want to take anything away from the new one because it's a great looking watch but defeats the object of why I want one. The PO is a tad too big for me, I think and the Sub is just right, but the new one despite being 40 to the PO's 42m looks bigger because of the new lugs design, on my wrist. |

It is pretty easy to do if you want to (have done it myself) but I have a local watchmaker I know do it for me now. I rest assured knowing a professional is doing it and it takes him 5 min.
Regarding the Sub C back log claim by your dealer that is a bunch of nonsense (at least in my area). I have a local AD I know that could sell you one tomorrow. Or contact one of the trusted sellers here on TRF (David SW for example) if you are interested in buying either model (16610 or 116610). Good Luck! |

If you order one State side you will pay heavily on TAX and import duties. You won't go far wrong with the 16610LV 50th anniversary. Good luck.

I'm also in the market for my first Submariner and find the newer 116610 case too boxy and a bit large for my 6" wrist.

My 114060 bought 3 months ago has a serial N. starting with C and has a Z in it.. Is it OK ? From what I've read looks like the serial N. starting with C are referring to a very old case..!! Could you please explain me..
Grazie my Rolex Teachers! Arrivederci
