My story: From Tag to Rolex

I am a new proud owner of a Rolex GMT2c, and I wanted to thank the contributing members of this board who provided me with so much useful knowledge and aided me in making a well informed, and thought out purchase of a watch that I am just in love with.

I am a one watch kinda guy, I wear my watch every day for both work and leisure. My last watch was a Tag 1887 Carrera which I owned for about 18 months and eventually sold to subsidize the cost of my GMT. Now don't get me wrong, the 1887 was a beautiful watch with a fantastic movement and impeccable build quality. In fact I don't think I can say anything bad about it. I just found while I wore the 1887 I still longed for other watches that I would come across such as a few Rolexs, Jagers and A.Langs. I came to a point where I was getting a very good offer on my Tag so I decided to sell. After a lot of research, a fair deal of which was on this board, I narrowed my watch selection down to 3 timepieces the Sub, the GMT and the JLC master ultra thin moon. I eventually eliminated the Jager due to the fact it was less practical as an everyday watch and I ended up going with the GMT2C as it just spoke to me. It's been two months now since I've had my Rolex and I am very pleased with my purchase with absolutely no regrets. I am sure I made the right choice, I wear my watch with pride and am constantly admiring it. It feels so good to have a Rolex on your wrist and I definitely can't see myself parting with this beauty.

A lot of us come from Tag to Rolex with a stop over with Breitling! I sold two Tag's to fund the current insanity!

Well, at least you experience with Tag was good unlike mine. If I had had a good experience in ownership and service, I'd still own tags. In fact, I have been tempted recently and when I google the watch I like I get all these terrible stories about problems. I just walked away. Why would you leave Tag if your experience was actually a good one? For example, my omega experience has always been good and I still own omegas.

Congrats on the new watch! I too started with Tag and still own my Carrera CV2010. I think it's a great brand with rich history and some gorgeous references.

Bought a Tag 10 years ago, great watch, never had a problem. Gave it to my brother 2 years ago when wife bought me a Rolex, he still wears it. Nice stepping stone watch.....
