Didn’t know these were a thing until I saw this advertised at upcoming Sotheby’s auction. Apparently they were modified at the ADs

Modified to what? All 1680/8’s came with nipple dials

This^
The "two tone" versions you see once in a while were dealer modified watches but the full gold 1680's were always nipple dials.
