Hey Guys!!! Gold is always gold.
But if i have to choose i prefer yellow gold + black dial/bezel.
Personally i think the blue one will sell more if in SSteel.

I love my all-Gold GMT IIc with ceramic bezel, so I am sure the Sub will look sweeeeeet!

New Sub

Most God awful thing I have seen. They took an iconic watch and destroyed it. Doesn't even look like a Sub anymore. :(

Can't say I agree. While the new 'Smurf' blue is not necessarily my taste, I think your point of view is a little extreme. If you think the new Sub is 'God awful' then how can you like the look of past Subs? I would hardly classify the changes as extreme...to be honest I think they are pretty subtle and not very drastic in the least. "Doesn't even look like a Sub anymore"...come on, now that is exaggerating to the nth degree IMO.

First shot is of the "Iconic" Sub w/ the second of the "God awful, destroyed, doesn't even look like a Sub anymore" version (albeit in SS and black). While I realize this Supercased SS hasn't hit the market yet (and probably won't come with red text), I borrowed this graphic artist rendition by fellow TRF member Jake...the SS version will probably look identical to this minus red text and hopefully all brushed brand. How anyone can say this no longer looks like a Sub is beyond me. If you're referring strictly on the blue version, again, the color might not be perfect for some, but I don't think the watch in general has been ruined.

Moby 33, Thanks for the comparison photo's. The "new" Sub SS looks very nice, but I do think the slightly narrower lugs on the current Sub are better balanced with the band. Just joined TRF today, and this is my first post/reply.

First post - so I should first say that the info on the this board is superb.

I bought my SS Sub 13 years ago and I'm thinking of replacing the bezel - first I thought about aftermarket bezels and replacing it myself. But now that I see the ceramic bezels - has anyone else thought of "updating" their old bezels to the new ones?

If so, should I contact an AD to get this done? how much would you estimate? or would it be better to do it myself (even if at all possible?).

Welcome.

No doubt they do look slightly different and I'm not taking sides on which one looks better/better balanced as I believe that is 100% subjective to personal tastes...my issue has to do with the degree of similarities with the two watches. Anyone that thinks the 'updated' version has completely destroyed the watch and it's essentially no longer recognizable as a Sub seems to be stretching quite a bit IMO.

I have to agree with you that it is completely subjective, and I also agree that the new one is unmistakeably a Sub, just slightly different. I guess if it had no changes there would be no need for us to consider buying the new one. This could get expensive. I'm sure my wife will be thrilled that I found TRF.

I agree can't wait till next year for the SS Subs. I figure the sales levels will still stink so I guess I will have mine one month after the show.

I think this watch is incredible, but there would be no way I could pull it off on a regular basis. I would be excited to see someone wearing this on an airplane, and might actually decide to strike up a conversation instead of pretending I'm asleep.

After owning hundreds of Rolex watches from an short career in International Trading. I can honestly say that this is the only Rolex I ever bought at an AD (besides my wife's watch).

When was the White Gold Submariner introduced?

I am curious as to when the White Gold Submariner with Blue Dial was introduced. I have the chance to buy a "used" one but am not sure if the info on the COA is correct.
The style is E1161960B9325
The serial# starts with a "Z" which means late 2007 production (I think).
The watch was purchased Feb 2008.

I have been told by some Rolex collecters that this watches serial cannot start with a "Z" it must be either "M" or "Y".

I am a novice when it comes to Rolex info, so and help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

The WG Sub was introduced last year, Basel 2008. Never really kicked off the shelves due to the fact that it's too damned expensive and, for that kind of money, you'd be better off with the new DD-II!!

Icon11 Details of the new Sub

Could someone point me to a place that has the details of what has changed on the Sub - sure I know it has a ceramic bezel now, but what else - is there a resource that has every single detail?

Possibly next month - at least, that's when my AD gets in their new stock from Basel 2009!!

I think he was asking about the SS not the TT.

If that is the case, your guess is as good as anybody else's...but common assumption is the supercased SS Sub will be debuted at next years Basel (assuming the Sub follows the same progression as the IIC)...meaning we won't be able to get our hands on one until probably the end of summer '10 (and no doubt at a premium to be one of the first owners). Cheers.

Sorry for the idiotic question, but I assume SS stands for stainless steel, I'm not clear as to what TT stands for.
and I was asking about the SS Sub
